Well, somebody provided screenshot evidence on their report which proves your statement wrong.

Chances are you rolled NEED on an item you didn't NEED for your spec you JOINED IN AS.
The fact that game allows you to do certain things doesn't mean they are according to rules.

edit: you can make your ban appeal via website support, however the ban is more likely to end before you get a response.
