Useful first character?

Hi, new to the Warmane, planning on playing on Icecrown. What's going to be useful to play that isn't overdone (I know.. I know nothing) except healer/tank? Is there a DPS style that is useful for raids and dungeons that isn't overdone to death that would actually be useful and wanted?

If you want to go for a class that isn't to popular dps wise, avoid pallys and dks.

So what about just going with a mage or warlock? I enjoy playing them, I just don't want to get to max level and always be looking for a group.

Take a warlock, most rare class on raids.

Or boomy. People like to have boomy DPS in raids for buffs

Boomkin, Warlocks , Mage (portals! they can be very useful if its your first character)

I would say Hunter. because you can farm lots of mats and your pet will do most of the DPS.

Demo locks and moonkins are hard to come by, you could try either of those. Also there's a lack of GOOD retribution paladins and they're very versatile + have a lot of utility.
