1. Freeing up a name

I want to make a character with the name "Ry" or "Ny" on Icecrown but it was unavailable so I tried searching in the armory and the name "Ry" and "Ny" didn't show up, so I am positive that the characters are low level and haven't been active for a very long period of time.

So im asking if perhaps you can free up the names so a more active player like me can use it? thank you. :)

Edit: I already made a ticket in-game but that hasn't gotten answered at all.

  2. 1. GM do not free name for you by opening a ticket

    2. Those name are taken: (search function does not work for word with 2 letters only)

    3. You need to wait for a clean up to free names done by Warmane around January/February

  3. I thought this worked like in retail where you can ask a GM to free up the name of an inactive character.

From what I heard from a friend long time ago.

You can contact a staff member and inquire about the said names. The staff member might point you to owner of those characters, giving you only a character name and realm, so you can approach the owner via in-game.
Considering the characters aren't cleared on inactivity clean up, it is possible they are logged on occasion to avoid being cleaned. Clearly used to reserve the names.
