How to gear fresh 80 for pvp

I just got to 80 on my DK and my end goal with him is to pvp.

I am wondering what the best way to go about gearing him is though as i believe some of my best in slot for pvp is from pve content, so im wondering would it be better if:
I start gearing pve till i can get the BIS pve gear then start gearing pvp.
I start gearing pvp and then try to get the pve items using pvp gear.

or if there is another better option i am not thinking of?

    ID say mix it.
First, buy any 264 ilvl from ah that suits Your class.
Second, I personally would start with savage set from AH in every slot (but dont replace 264ilvl)
Third, do fos/pos/hor hc for some 232 additional items like trins etc.

Get as good weapon as possible from PvE.

With that start, You can start buying furious/rele set and some wrath off pieces.

You're probably best off by starting to pvp.
Assuming you have to learn to pvp it's probably best to go with full pvp sets first.
Once you are getting better you can get some pve gear to increase you damage output while reducing your resilience.

You can also farm pve gear to do raids besides the pvp.
Note that pvp gear is terrible in pve and mostlikely any raidleader will not invite you because of it.
Simply farm t9 with emblems and try to get some offset items in either toc10/25 or via ah(264 boots for example).

Try to farm some gold to buy Battered Hilt.
It gives you a decent weapon for both pvp and pve.

If you got any questions in particular post them here.
Myself or someone else will be able to give you a indepth answer.

I agree, but imo wasting few k gold on BH is way stupid idea for someone new. For that few k You can do like 2 proffs or get 1-2 264ilvl boe, 251 weapon can be obtainable in icc 10, which You can do with 5k gs just before reset. Vote points can give You up to 239ilvl wpn as well.

Never said he shouldn't do proffs first..
I think it kind of speaks for itself that a player should have such things done before even considering spending large amounts of gold on certain items/upgrades.
