WotLK Character re-customization Issues

Hi all

I just purchased the character re-customization and I am running into issues. Every time I try to perform the re-customization is fails and I get the error message 'could not customize character' I'v opened a ticket but haven't heard back as of yet so I thought I ask here as well. Is there anything obvious I should try? I've tried different customizations with no luck. I even tried just changing the name. I disabled and removed all add-ons, fresh copy of the game and nothing seems to work. I know the name is available as well.

One thing I didn't try was logging in with my Character once. Logged in and then back out to the the character selection screen and it worked.
