WotLK Windowed doesn't work?

I can play the game at full screen, but I enjoy being able to utilize windowed mode because you can freely click out of the game without having to alt+tab and have the screen completely blank out for a moment. Whenever I try to set it in windowed mode, it just becomes a black screen and nothing will bring it back unless I hit the "esc" button on my keyboard. Is this a known issue with the game? I have no problems with it in Retail.
