1. Why is WoTLK so popular?

Been wondering this for a while now. Seems like practically all other xpacks here shutdown after a while but the WoTLK servers have been running for years. What makes it so popular?

It hits really sweet spot between slow/fast pace and between old WOW, but with quality of life changes. Classes feel smooth and complete compare to previous expansions and gameplay is more enjoyable. The theme of the expansion is really good, people will never get tired of The lich King. Raiding is on sweet spot as well, not too hard but also not too easy. PvP is super bursty which is most fun PVP, everyone enjoys when they pop cds and blow someone up its a good feeling. It just feel overall balanced expansion that any type of player can enjoy.

For me is improved, more fun version of the game compare to TBC/Vanilla. As for expansions after WOTLK they all are modern WOW with the new zones and so on, i just play retail instead.

  3. Thanks for the reply! I guess I could understand that. Though for me it was always one of my least favorites, thus why I was wondering. Maybe it was due to the experiences I had with other people during this Xpack. Well, either way, I'm glad others enjoy it so much, I might have to give it another try.

  4. It is popular because Wow started to come to its peak. It wasn't the most ''balanced'' expansion tho. Dk and plate users are literally cancer here.

Also the game is much more simplified, rdf, raids are easier than on previous expansions, farming in general and a lot of classes have burst and easy leveling time.

Also for the private servers, wotlk is the most popular because trinity core exists and its the best for this one. It's so easy to make standard wotlk server without too much effort, thus everybody running this.

  5. For me I love talent trees. Yes there is a meta to follow if you want to be the best but you can play with talents here and there to suit your play style and gear. For example if I hit armor cap why would I take a talent that gives me more armor etc. The prospect of freedom even if sometimes it's stupid is better than being forced to play cookie cutter.

  6. TBC PvP is better if it wasn't for Druids and Rogues bring OP and other classes a tad Underpowered.

What I don't like about Wrath PvP is the Damage Output and Burst due to Bis Gear and SM.

TBC felt more "Natural" were AV Battles took a while. In Wrath, the Battles are much quicker were one team gets nuked.

Also, Gear Mattered much less in TBC, you could still put up a good fight in all rares while in Wotlk you get 1 shotted.

  7. Pleasant leveling, good class design (more fun to press buttons compared to previous expacs, and most specs are playable in both pvp and pve), great zones, *snow*.

  8. @Shacylacts, gear mattered a lot in TBC aswel, just look closer at stats etc. Iiirc, 2-handed Enha shamans were famous for being able to one-shot ppl in weak gear
