1. PvP-Newbie Question About World PvP

    Greetings, people :)

I have been playing the in Lordaeron server for quite a while, and there is something I'm genuinely curious about.

In terms of gameplay and general enjoyment of the game, what is the benefit of a world PvP?
I am not talking about the effect of world PvP in drawing in new players and keeping the population up, etc, nor am I looking for "This is a PvP server, deal with it" kind of response.

I myself am not a PvP player, but I can at least get the excitement of the objective-oriented chaos in Battlegrounds or skillful showdown in Arenas. However, I honestly cannot see the enjoyment in world PvP. Granted, most, if not all of the experiences I had in world PvP were getting ganked/camped by a much higher level player and getting quest-giver killed, so I personally only have foul memories of it. The closest thing I can think of a positive side is the situation where there's only one quest objective and the only way to determine who gets it first is by killing the player in the opposite faction.

With that in mind, I'd love to know more about the brighter side of world PvP, be it in theory or in practice.
If any of you guys know the positive side of world PvP, or possibly experienced and enjoyed it yourself, please let me know!

    Cheers

  2. IMO draw of world PvP is watching lowbies try and run and desperately fail and the enjoyment you get out of killing the lvl 80's they cry for help to. You'd end up feelin pretty OP.
Also, I'd like to add that "objective-oriented chaos in BGs" stopped being objective-oriented long time ago. Now it's just HK farm from clowns of Iceclown.

  3. Thanks for the answer.

I suppose I can understand the sense of accomplishment where you can defeat someone who's deemed strong enough to be called as an assistance. Still can't really find the enjoyment of watching lowbies run away though.

I didn't know about the current state of BGs, so thanks for clearing it up.

  4. People that kill lowbies or kill clearly undergeared chars are basically bored of the grinding basement dwellers. They get a kick off criting someone in Ashenvale then camping their body for kicks n giggles. The more overcrowded a server is, the more absolute asshats you will meet. And because of the "feeling OP" thing that everybody apparently desperately needs in the server as the Ragnar fanboy mentioned, that's the same drive behind multi-boxing or playing DKs/paladins.

  5. I have a hard time trying to relate to that. Maybe that's because I'm a very casual player, so feeling OP isn't really what I'm looking for.

Different people enjoy different things I guess

Makes me wonder if people who enjoy stomping lowbies do find getting stomped also enjoyable, because if that's the case, even if I can't relate, at least it is fair
