Ninja came from using master loot to ACTUALLY take the items without allowing people to roll for them and actually taking their need into consideration.
If you plan to use your abilities as administrators of the server to stop ACTUAL NINJA, I am all in favor for it.
HERE COMES THE PROBLEM. Needing in dungeons for items that are not your main spec, IS NOT NINJA, BECAUSE YOU ARE OBLIGED TO USE THE NEED BUTTON AND A ROLL IS MADE.
Rolling for your offspec in dungeons is also NOT ninja in the following cases:
- They have better items, but they "NEED" the items for gold or disenchanting and they report you cause you "STOLE" it (BUT YOU STILL BAN PLAYERS FOR IT IF THESE PEOPLE HAVE SCREENSHOTS)
- If they wait for last second to need the items, that it their mistake, I dont have to greed the item just so it will get disenchanted because he didnt press the NEED BUTTON
- YOU ARE NOT OBLIGED TO GIVE PEOPLE THE ITEMS IF THEY HAVE BETTER ONES, THE IDEA OF THE GAME IS PROGRESS.
You should take all of these into consideration. In addition:
IF YOU ARE AGAINST NEEDING FOR OFFSPEC IN DUNGEON, YOU CAN IMPLEMENT WORKAROUNDS NOT INSTANTLY BAN PEOPLE.
YOU SHOULD GIVE WARNINGS FOR PEOPLE NOT INSTANTLY BANNING THEM WITHOUT EXPLANATION.
YOU SHOULD ALSO PRESENT THE PROBLEM TO PEOPLE SO THAT THEY KNOW IT, NOT PUT IT INTO SOME OBSCURE THREADS ON FORUM, GIVE A MESSAGE EVERY HOUR TO EVERYBODY ON CHAT (in red just to give it some extra dandiness)
KNOWING ALL THESE, AND THE FACT THAT YOU WILL APPEAL TO BANS ONLY AFTER A MINIMUM OF 2 DAYS AND YOU WILL NOT TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE VIEW OF THE ONE THAT IS BANNED BEFORE BANNING:
YOU SHOULD OFFER COMPENSATION FOR YOUR MISJUDGEMENT.
I would also like to reference, the answer of Aldtharios - Head GM
"- In RDF needing on items for OS (unless everyone in party is explictly fine with this)." from http://forum.warmane.com/showthread....=1#post2651922
Take the above mentioned scenario into consideration, I will lose the items if I dont need on them if someone selected DISENCHANT, therefore your reasoning is already flawed.
In addition, to bring the flaw even further into view, take the case of people that have enchanting and NEED on items just so that they can disenchant them and get the materials for themselves. What are you doing about that? Oh right, nothing. But you will ban people for needing on items that they ACTUALLY NEED, but needing on items they dont ACTUALLY NEED but are of the right spec is totally okay.

No, you're not OBLIGED to use need button whenever you can. You're given the chance to, because the game doesn't read what gear you have for what spec, and how good the said gear is. So, need button being enabled, doesn't mean you should always press it.
Rolling need for OS is against the rules. Though, if all other party members agree to it, you can roll need for OS.

Needing items for gold or disenchantment, as well as OS if not given green light by other party members, is called, you guessed it, NINJA LOOTING.
Breaking the law, in order to prevent others from breaking the law, is still breaking the law.
"Needing items for gold or disenchantment, as well as OS if not given green light by other party members, is called, you guessed it, NINJA LOOTING."
Correct, the problem is that you have no way to check, therefore you just proved that you have no idea what you are talking about.

I never said you need on everything. If you actually read the post, you would have seen that I said NEEDING ON ITEMS THAT YOU NEED = that you will use when playing (YOU WILL EQUIP THEM and GO INTO DUNGEONS/RAIDS/BATTLEGROUNDS WITH THEM)
"Rolling need for OS is against the rules. Though, if all other party members agree to it, you can roll need for OS."
I already explained the problem with this. Take the time to read, before posting tangentially.
I'll keep this simple: our server, our rules.
It's your responsibility to be fully aware of our rules. A whole section in the Forum is named "Rules for Game and Forums," is located near the very top and in the main page of the Forum. That isn't obscure by any means.
