Does selecting female impact gameplay mechanics?

I noticed a lot of players, especially in PvP, disproportionately select female players.

I'm wondering, is this due to a gameplay reason, perhaps one of the following (just guessing, I am unfamiliar with these mechanics)?
- Easier to hide behind things - like pillars in arenas
- Smaller hit box - easier to run, kite, and avoid stuff
- Harder to click on - if your opponent is a clicker
- Other?

Or is it just an aesthetic preference? I did some research and reviewed other forums and can't seem to get an answer. Someone did mention that hit boxes were modified/standardized in MoP, which led me to believe that perhaps pre-MoP there's a meta-reason to go female.

lol no. It's soley for the reason that a lot of males play this server, and would rather have something nice to look at while they play, and the females that play on this server enjoy the asthetics of female avatars as well. It comes down to looks nothing more.

Humans are obviously the go to race if you pvp at all or even consider to be decent in a 15 y old game, where the meta is to get advantage by anything offerd to you. Human racial.

Since Males are ugly, all go female.

As far as I know only tauren had 7 years melee range at some point cause of their size, but that's not the case atm.
Otherwise obviously gnomes are harder to click, but you shouldn't click targets in pvp anyway.
Also if you choose to see your enemies HP bar visually you can see them behind pillars too, so that advantage is gone.

I don't know about female specifically but I do know that the gnome model is physically shorter.. Your casts on the boss are physically coming from a lower height so expect stuff to be LOS. As a gnome I am LOS a lot of times on lady deathwisperer because of the stairs. I don't have that problem on any other races. Also same deal on bosses that fly up. As a melee you will will be out of range sooner than other races on those bosses.
