Getting saved on boss engage not on boss kill?

Hi,
I was in VoA and loot rules were suddenly changed in front of boss vs what was in the recruitment message. So naturally I confronted RL but some1 ninjapulled. I left immedeately and ported out of the raid, yet somehow the group finished the boss and I received ID even thou I was NOT in the raid group anymore and was sitting in dala for like 5 mins?
I always thought one should be saved only when physically in the raid when the boss is killed.... What's up with that?

If the boss is pulled and the group kills it you get saved. If you leave before it's pulled, you don't. That's the way it always was.
