Does it offend you when it's precisely what's happening?
Every time I level a new character, I might get ganked, but never camped. If it looks like camping is about to start, I move away to greener pastures. Why are you so adamant on subjecting yourself to place, that's known to be camped, only to get the same exp you'd get somewhere else.
What are campers gonna do if I'm playing another game, I'm in safety of a city, while I'm in RDF, or while flying between zones?
Or maybe it's just me, who doesn't log my other faction characters, and throw some fuel for the fire via whispers.
And grieving is also valid reason for ppl to play. You can just unstuck and do something in another zone. Its not that somebody abusing 'something' to pvp in sanctuary zone anyway.
@Obnoxious, I don't ever want pvp changed, but the claim that warmane hasn't ever made changes to player created situations is incorrect. Warmane moved the Wintergrasp portal inside the chamber to protect players from pvp.
I don't think I'll ever get over the capacity people here have to stop reading full sentences halfway, only going as far as it's convenient.
"No "broad change" we have ever implemented had to do with intervening in player-created situations that can be solved by players themselves.
The middle way is found by asking people in your faction to assist."
The wintergrasp portal relocation seems to directly contradict this claim. Unless this change doesn't meet your personal definition of "broad change", I don't see what I'm missing.
Seriously? I'll have to bold it?
Player-created situations that can be solved by players themselves.
Can't the players being killed in Wintergrasp find find friends or guild members to help kill their attackers? They're knowingly taking a portal to a contested PVP zone. I fail to see how WG portal camping is any different than any other camping in the game. I'm not trying to argue, I'm genuinely asking how it's different. I actually support the portal relocation because camping noobs isn't fun to me.
People were getting killed before their game even finished loading. It was pretty much exploiting how bad the game is when dealing with transitions to get kills that couldn't even be fought back. Personally, were it up to me, that would be plenty to start giving bans for exploiting it. Instead, as players can't themselves do anything about loading times, the portal was moved, so they can load up without being already dead.
You do know what made this happen? Selected few (Alliance) players decided to AFK in WG battles in order to be able to camp that teleport zone. Only to grow their tiny epeen with pitiful HK leaderboard bragging rights. Since this goes against the whole point of WG (PvP, winner gets the spoils, achieve victory..), it was an effective way to negate this behavior. Players had no real means to deal with it, so staff had to intervene. Now that the players gets teleported to safety, they can't be camped, so there's no reason to lose WG.
obnoxious, what about turning off pvp in duskwood for the one event this year? i dont even remember which one it was, but we ally were camping the npc required for quest completion, and then you guys turned the area into sanctuary. might have been one of the custom events, but the fact is you absolutely turned off pvp in a contested zone because alliance were owning a quest npc, and horde couldnt get their **** together enough to fight us.
That's... an event? Which was being smooth-brained by some people. On normal circumstances I'd think it would go without saying that when we host a custom event, we want people taking part... but I guess, after all, it really has to be typed that such events aren't aimed at the ones trying to ruin it?
First I get someone who skips the "can be solved by players themselves" part.
Now I get another who skips the "broad changes" part.
C'mon, I know you're out there, person who will make some faith-on-humanity killing comment about the word "implement" next. Bring it on.
welp, i would consider disabling pvp in an entire zone to be fairly broad. but i concede on the scale of the game it is debatable how 'broad' it is.
it was a shame though. we have a hard enough time getting horde to actually fight us on lodearon. an event they were locked out of until they actually fought to participate may have given us the fight we were looking for. though they actually been giving us some decent battles in the past couple days, so maybe someone is lighting a fire under their asses. i mean, they actually killed a king today (on their second attempt) after at least a week of zero serious FTH efforts.
What happened to the "Honorless Target" buff? Wasn't it being applied, wasn't it working correctly...? Maybe it still gives the HK and should be modified so it doesn't?
No idea, but if that truly made a difference, low-levels wouldn't get repeatedly ganked, would they?
I'd bet that if that debuff was applied nothing would change, even if only "out of spite" for it being "ruined."
