especially the DPS, there's definitely a difference, they're pulling 12k dps on Sartharion with 3.9k gs
I just did VOA25 with 11 people in raid on retail. I am non def capped 3.5 tank and literally not taking any damage from the boss.
more than likely they made it easier so they can release as Season of Mastery server which will be harder. (aka the same difficulty as we have now)
I'd say that their dps is huge because they mostly use skada instead of recount. Even here if you try to use Skada, it will show totally different dps than recount.
Another thing that comes to my mind is that maybe those bosses in previous raids don't have high armor or something? Everybody stacks up attack power gems (no armor pen) so it's better I guess.
Which is indeed strange in my opinion. Most people here with 5200gs, full gems + enchant in icecrown cannot hit more than 5k dps on bosses. They barely touch 6k. I can say the same for myself and with all of my characters. Have almost bis paladin but he hardly hits 8k on a single target which is very suspicious to me. 2 or more targets --> its 12500dps, but 1 its hard to pull anything.
I had a paladin with shadow's edge, herkumi war token and another death's choice trinket. Did around 8k dps on a recount. Then I bought for my paladin 2 bis trinkets (abomination and sts) all heroic btw and gloren hc. The dps didn't increase a single bit LOL, still doing the same 8k. xD
Back in the days even had a warrior furry with 6.2k and somehow on single targets I could barely go beyond 6500dps lmao. I'd say something here is definitely off.
All of these tests were performed on a dummy. I know in icc you get 30% buff to damage but I'm talking about a single target dummy dps...
Yeah, Classic servers are tunned and not just a bit. Most of the encounters are finished right after BL ends, or even within a bloodlust, you can see a lot of 10k+ dps at the end of a fight on single target encounters. You can literally do Naxx, OS, EOE in two and half hour, 100% of this content can be done via pug aswell.
I mean sure, it's the same as on TBC, but this is just sad to see happening on live classic servers. I wonder what numbers we gonna pull with full Ulduar gear, let alone on 284 meta. Watching people with 40k+ dps on burst with trinkets in ICC gonna be fun I guess huh.
Yeah I WAS THERE 3000 YEARS AGO aswell.
But for real now, even if you check old videos from Ensidia let's say from their ICC clears, there is no1 who's even close hittin this kind of DPS, on Deathbringer they were pulling 12k dps at the end of the encounter, all these vids are up on youtube. So yeah something's still really fishy about wotlk classic.

It is fishy definitely. I also feel that trinkets from those earlier raids are somehow better than fos/pos/hor ones and the fact that we never farm toc25HC on this server means that we all enter in icc unprepared with just dungeon gear. So no good trinkets,etc.
All my geared characters that are around 5 - 5.5gs do 7 - 7.5k dps on a single target dummy. Again not sure if this is legit ''good'' or just bad again.
My other theory is what I said above. Older bosses might not actually have that great armor stat which states correctly that armor pen isn't that good in the early stage of the game. In icecrown citadel, try to attack Deathbringer and see how quickly his heath depletes in compare to let's say Marrowgar. You will notice that it goes way faster on the 1st boss while doing the same exact thing. Maybe Db just has much more armor thus making us get low dps.
If I'm speaking nonsense then sorry but I'm not good with these things and how bosses work.
