I will tell you something... You are simply wrong. There always have to be system that will set direction of loot managent. To be honest, DKP is one of most FAIR systems for loot. Majority of advanced guilds that I have visited or I am part of have DKPs (Fade, Afterlight, Courage,... etc.).

Most of these guilds dont have priority system based on ranks (or they have but really simple - rank up from "newbie" and you can loot everything after that).

Just be active, make alts, show focus and determination, play properly, try to improve and it will pay off. Not in days, maybe not even in weeks... If you are willing to show your effort you will get what you deserve - not just DKP and items, but experience, raid awareness, you will just get better.

I'll tell you straight. You have three options:
1.) Stay PvP player or be totally casual PvE player (dungeons, transmog runs etc.)
2.) with little effort join/host pugs but get frustrated, pissed, and end up dissatisfied
3.) Join guild, do your best, work your way up in "guild ladder", improve yourself and some day you can be solid part of "chain"


This is how it works. There is no other way around.

I just recently joined the best guild on Icecrown, an old guild, I'm a newcommer, I got tons of loot while using DKP system. I got a lot of dkp too, after 2 weeks to an ammount where I'm at the same dkp as everyone else, sure there's 5 guys with insane ammount that played for year('s) but they get that ammount cause they dont need gear, they have all characters geared allready, they dont bid anyway and if they ever do, god bless they finally get smth in return for helping the community.

I both had dkp guilds and lc guilds. I'm just gonna point out, nearly every high end guild has lc. It's just the most efficient way to handle loot. The biggest problems with dkp are: inefficient handling of loot (in terms of raid progression) and difficulty recruiting new people (as if you are a new joiner to an already established dkp system you won't see loot in a very long time). I'll tell you from personal experience it's very hard for a proper high end focused guild to function and handle its management challenges while having dkp system in place.
