1. Email Address Format Problem

My email address, yes, a holy and anointed "Google" email address even (only because this server demands that I subject myself to an email provider that feeds foreign intelligence services for profit) actually has a period (.) in the middle of the email address before the @. Example: [email protected]. This means that my already existing email address isn't allowed by this server, because the code you use to manage accounts was written by someone who didn't know that this was possible (a period in the prefix of your email address).

Okay, I get it, one person's account does not warrant a code rewrite or a new email handler by the server admins. I respect that.

But now I have to wait a week, after creating a new gmail account just to comply here.... because you can't change your email address more than once every seven days. Not a bad security measure, I respect that too.

I am only posting to let all users know: if you have a period in your gmail address, and someone does not include the period when emailing you (this server) then you will never see or have access to email from the server admins here. Just be aware, if you need to receive Warmane email for any reason, you'll never see it, unless you create a new account without the period.

  2. WAIT... WAIT... I correct myself here!!! After doing some testing..... this is not exactly a problem.... the only real problem is that the website interface, and any system generated email to your gmail ccount WILL NOT display the period in the prefix of your email. The system does accept and handle your email properly, but, does create a bit of confusion because it does not display the period in your email address (in the prefix, if you have one) in either the web interface or in the body of the confirmation email they send you when they email you.

    Example:

1 - I use the email "[email protected]" when creating my Warmane account.
2 - I view my account settings and it shows my email as: "[email protected]".
3 - I realize that gmail treats those two as completely different accounts, and I panic because Warmane appears to not allow the period.
    4 - I create a new account.
5 - Warmane sends an email to the email account I changed from, demonstrating that they do allow periods, they just don't display them.
6 - I realize that I've wasted half an hour of panic that I could have been questing or raiding with!

Okay, panic over!!! Not that big of a problem, but it would sure be nice if they fixed this display problem!

  3. It's because gmail ignores dots in addresses, so the warmane website normalises addresses by removing dots when storing them.

  4. 3 - I realize that gmail treats those two as completely different accounts
It doesn't. It's all treated as just one account without periods by Gmail.
