I am new to WoW, I did create this account back in 2014 but back then I got a boost to 80 into a class I didn't like and i never got into the game.
Now I started like less than a year ago on Frostmourne and I love it but I still don't understand how to approach some things, gear especially.
I have a specific personality as a person, I really like to optimize things and don't like to waste anything, if I get the feeling that I wasted something it ruins the enjoyment for me.
That being said, I have looked up what the perfect (I think it is called BiS) gear is for my character, like the gear that you can't have anything better than that.
I play tank paladin and I have collected enough emblems to buy the shoulders and the chest and I got them since i saw that the upgraded versions of that are best.
Now here comes my confusion, what do I do with the next emblems I collect?
Because for example, hands and legs are best gear from that set when upgraded but they can drop in VoA, so I feel buying them with emblems would be a waste of Frost Emblems, also, the Head slot, I saw recommended is for example "Broken ram skull helm" as best instead of the set piece "Lightsworn Faceguard" So i kinda feel that buying the Faceguard would be a waste.
I understand that the whole game is based on getting gear and upgrading or changing it, but I don't feel too bad changing gear I got for gold since you can get gold pretty easy, but getting emblems takes a long time and because of that I want to avoid wasting them.
What can I do with my frost emblems since I already have the shoulders and chest?
Any other item I see that I could buy and that would currently be an upgrade (back or waist for frost emblems for example) isn't best gear in game and I feel that it would be a waste in the long run when i change it?
Am I looking at it incorrectly?
Someone who plays and understands the game for longer pls help me get a perspective on it.
Should I just save the emblems and go do raids for the gear?
Or do I buy the items even if i will not use them in the end?
What is the best approach?

Just to be clear by boost I mean the group of friends that waned me to play the DPS for them have carried my char to lvl up to 80 faster, Now on Frostmourne PvE I did it all by myself and that made me enjoy the game, because I got to know the game and story way better.

After you have the parts that will become BIS, don't be shy to waste them as you wish. Later you can buy sets for offspecs maybe, some other "stepping stone" gear pieces. In the end they will just sit there, number will go up, hundreds, then thousands, nothing particularly useful.
Right, you can cash them in for primordial saronites, stack them in neat little piles maybe.
