Technical Unable to log on + characters not showing on website

Hi there.

I have recently had to re-install my computer and lost the game files. "No bother" I thought. I went back to the website and found the download file. Downloaded it and it starts up as usual. First problem occurs. I cannot log on (I can confirm that I have the internet, and I checked the realmlist under data -> enUS to be "set realmlist logon.warmane.com". At this point I am sure I am missing something, but I can't see what it is.

Second situation. I can't seem to find my characters on the website + the site says that I have been a member since '13, but I can't wrap my head around that since I believe I opened the account about a year +/- ago. I am starting to wonder if it is possible to open two accounts with the same email, or perhaps I have a second account with me second email.
