I'm making this post regarding the new wave of lvl 1 characters abusing Transfaction AH in STV, Winterspring and Gadgetzan. These guys are camping there for hours and hours....and hours on end, and if you put some item you want to transfer for somewhat low price , they will be there to get if off of your hands.
STV AH is unsafe unless you /who on 3 different zones, and pray they dont log in. So these guys exploit the AH load time , and if you play with 100ms or more they will rob you for sure, i tested it with some items and they buy them faster than i can autobuy with macro on my other PC - tried it with 2 accounts on 2 different PC's, every item i listed got the "Item not found message" literally a second after i've posted them. Im not sure but its possible they use some 3rd party software or autoclicker , modified AH addons or buyout macro?
Many people have complained on both A and H sides on both Icecrown and Lordaeron Realms , i asked friends who got scammed for an absurd amount of mats and precious items, there were FB posts in a group with screenshots and all.
So my suggestion is - is it possible to restrict those players using Transfaction AH , of if its possible for lets say Level 60 requirement to use Transfaction AH (to avoid lvl 1 people and 55 Dk's) . My reasoning behind this is that this practice is predatory and it renders the AH ,making it unsafe for use. This argument may sound silly to most but for me it's a partial solution since those people don't face any concequences , even if they get banned it's a level 1 char , they will just go create a new account and make another lvl 1 character and so on , an those people do not inted to stop this practice.
For my case , when i have time i farm a bit , recently started doing Darkmoon rep grind but my Scribe is Horde and im doing Insane on Alliance side , started from zero, and the best thing to see is someone mocking your labour by exploiting AH without consequences. So to avoid this bots camping AH my choices are:
1.Blow up the price on the transfered item , for my expence ,the Gold i've farmed, and lose even more gold on transaction just in case there is a Camper around (its 15percent Tax).
2.Warmane Bans those Campers and puts restrictions on Transfaction AH and puts an end to this.
3.If such Bot gets an item , players who write thickets to get Inventory rewind to the time/date the transaction happened and get their items back and the Bot to be Permabanned. (I suggest that because it happends so fast that "Cancel Auction" is not Avaiable).
4.Since they are bots "just in case" i now have to create another Scribe to make my decks on Alliance side , only becasue a Bot decided to get some free Gold without any kind of punishement whatsoever.
I recently got Thicket responce on my case with " The Player will be Investigated " which is nice from Warmane's side and i respect that, but my items(s) are gone and probably in some bank alts bank collection dust on in regular AH undercutting all other people who worked their asses to make the same item.
"and if you put some item you want to transfer for somewhat low price , they will be there to get if off of your hands" - This is how an auction house works, its not your personal mailbox. If they autobuy or bot then obviously, that's an issue, but the marketplace should remain unchanged. If you chose to put items up on the neutral auction house and i chose to camp it for easy profit then thats unfortunate for you.
yes i agree with your statements on AH , but my main point is focusing on the botting/autoclicking for split seconds , and the unaccountability of the people who do that , why should a player care about a lvl 1 rogue being investigated in an account he is using only for AH botting, thats why i suggested the level restriction, so people who want to try camping with bots will have something to lose and think twice before deciding to do it , if its a random auction someone forgot , and you got free item then as you said "unfortunate for you "
why should a player care about a lvl 1 rogue being investigated in an account he is using only for AH botting
A player should never be investigated for just being level 1 and at an auction house. Lots of people have bank alts and low level twinks that auction daily.
You should be investigated if you are tradebotting, regardless of level. The issue here isnt the neutral auction house or level 1's on the AH, it's the bots. Nobody disagrees that bots are bad in MMOs apart from the botters who turn the profit.
Leveling to level 55 takes a little over hour with the proper set up, you could also just donate it or buy a character. This does not fix the botting issue you are talking about.
Like the people above said, the AH is not the issue, the issue is people violating existing rules. So I'm closing this suggestion because the solution already exists: report them with evidence.
PS: Keep that evidence off the forums, it is a forum rule after all.
