I know I know this probably has been a requested feature in other posts. But what are the odds we see AoE looting in the Wrath servers in the not to distant future. We have transmog which was a 4.3 feature. I believe it would be pretty sweet to have this feature in the game from either mist 5.0.1 or was it put in during the 5.0.3 patch? either way, I think its time we receive this all time great QoL change that blizzard actually introduced into the game in a later expansion.

Except that main limiting problem most certainly is old engine.
So no matter what you are suggesting about it (in wrong part of forum BTW) - it won't happen.

Without looking much into it I don't see why it wouldn't be possible in the old client. But I don't think it's likely to be implemented

Okay, but its a huge benefit for the players as well. Especially when you are dragging a friend through a dungeon. I don't know enough about its code, or how it would have to be changed to make this work. But I think it would be one of the most well received changes to any of the current Wrath servers. Also as I see it if there is the demand for it then we can get it as an update to the current game. If it does not happen then it doesn't. I'd still play regardless.

he's just wrong, bots don't care about needing extra clicks to loot, it only benefits players as they're the ones with the fingers made of meat that can get tired and wear out.

It will streamline looting process of multiple mobs. Meaning bots gets their things done seconds faster. Imagine 20 second loot process being turned into 5 second process for humen, bots 2 or 3 seconds. It makes huge difference if somebody is running 100 bots. Those small numbers start stacking high real quick. Meaning bots will reap the biggest benefits over time as they aim to be running 24/7.

Saw 1 cata server having it, and not adding great Quality of life feature like this just because bots might slightly benefit from it, is just retarted.
How about banning that bots in the first place?

Bots do get banned...but it's also about controlling the damage they can do before they're caught.

an aside: I've noticed autoloot has some kind of weird "lag." It stalls for like a second, sometimes doesn't loot at all. Makes it really annoying when you need to loot like 20 mobs.
Looping over the entire loot window using Lua is much much much faster (for i=1,GetNumLootItems() do LootSlot(i) end etc etc.) You can hook that into the LOOT_OPENED event by writing your own addon or using weakauras, something like that.
