WotLK I accidentally threw out quest item

I accidentally threw out a quest item called sample ichor(I did not know it was needed for the quest) and I need help with obtaining it again. Any help would be very appreciated :)

Apothecary Renferrel may give you a new sample if you just talk to him. If he doesn't, abandon the quest, and re-pick it from him at The Sepulcher, Silverpine Forest.

how do I abandon the quest?

Open quest log, select the quest related to the Sample Ichor and there should be red button that reads "Abandon".
