WotLK [Battlegrouds] 178 illvl / 3300 gs stuck vs Blackrock

Hey,

Basically, I'm a 178 ilvl / 3307 gs / 17000 HKs - rogue (name - Webdev - Icecrown) playing battlegrounds here and there, casually when I'm able to.
My bank is empty, I do not own any high item level gear, but I keep getting into upper bracket and much of that, the Blackrock bracket.
I'd like to know why. I've bought some cosmetics, like Goblin Weather Machine, does that influence my brackets?
I've just wanted to stay in the lower brackets where I can do something, since I casually play when I got the time to. Otherwise I'll have to abandon this toon, since it's unplayable.
Anyways, any explanation would be of much appreciation.

You have furious pants.

It's not about the average ilvl, it's about the ilvl of the highest ilvl piece that you have.

(Just to be clear, I'm not telling you to throw away the pants)

There was some talk about gear not being the only condition to be put in high bracket. People twinking low bracket is defeating it's purpose, I think that was the idea.

...I told you not to remove the pants. I don't think removing gear does anything. Once you're there, you're there.

Why not get the rest of the gear? The furious main set and then the wrathful offset. It's going to take you a couple of weeks.

Shred92 - No worries mate! If removing the pants would've helped, that would've been totally worth it, and I'm totally desperate haha.
If I'm going to farm the full furious/wratful sets, one pants won't be a deal-breaker.
I'll struggle with the weapons and trinkets for that upper bracket, most likely I'll just switch to Blackrock and get a fully geared toon there, since I'm a casual anyways, progressing on one toon isn't the end, but knowing why I got into this in the first place would've been helpful.
Anyways, I understand that the secrets behind the Battleground system are secrets for a reason, I just had to check to reassure if the reasoning was simple or complex.
