iam a new Player and iam a litle bit confused.

i reched lvl 70 and i got a message i can buy a flight lizenc on northrend for 4000 Gold.

Why is that so expensive? or can i buy it cheaper?

It's expensive because you can use a regular ground mount until you get the gold.

Cold Weather Flying is 1k. The price cannot be reduced. This is needed to use non-vehicle flying mounts on Northrend.

Epic(artisan) flight is 5k(reduced by reputation, with thrallmar/warsong hold and their alliance counterpart). The discount goes: neutral: 5000, friendly: 4750, honored: 4500, revered: 4250, exalted: 4000.

No, you only need 1k, artisan flying isn't required for flying on Northrend. Artisan flying is only needed to use the fast(aka epic rarity) 280-310% flying mounts.

A note though, you can't learn cold weather flying on your first character before 77(?). Once you reach level 80, you can buy the Tome of Cold Weather Flying or whatnot in Dalaran, which can be sent to other characters on the account(but not to different realms on warmane), and the tome can be used on lvl 68 to learn Cold Weather Flying.

A note though, you can't learn cold weather flying on your first character before 77(?). Once you reach level 80, you can buy the Tome of Cold Weather Flying or whatnot in Dalaran, which can be sent to other characters on the account(but not to different realms on warmane), and the tome can be used on lvl 68 to learn Cold Weather Flying.

At level 77 you can also request a loaner mount to fly in Sholazar Basin, Storm peaks and Icecrown without Cold Weather Flying from "Honest Max outside of K3, Storm Peaks.

You must go to Valience Keep in Borean Tundra and speak with Maigra Keenfeather who is the flying trainer.

The trainer in K3 is not a member of any faction and the discounts do not apply.
