1. Thinking of joining after several years away from WoW. Onyxia or Lordaeron?

Some context, I was a raid leader of one of the first guilds on old Molten to kill Lich King when it was first released forever ago, so have some decent amount of experience with the server as well as with wrath (raids, classes, sweaty theorycrafting, etc.)

I'm really looking for a chill leveling experience with the possibility of experiencing some endgame content at the end of it. I *enjoy* early dungeons, some of the RPG aspects of the game, and am far too old to do the whole "rush as fast as you can to max level so you can sit around in Dalaran and hate the game" mentality.

Considering between Onyxia and Lordaeron. I used to play Lord back in the day so know a good bit about it, but intrigued with Onyxia.

    My questions are as follows:

    1) Is there any external reward for choosing to level as 1x? Mount, cosmetic, title, any incentive or is there literally no point and you'll need the extra exp to handle the 3.3.5 client conversion and any hiccups it may have?

    2) All posts I've seen seem to comment on how quickly Ony is progressing. TBC in 3 months? Think that'll be enough time to experience most of what vanilla has to offer before everything shifts over?

    3) If so, what classes/specs should I be looking at? I know little about classic other than warriors are literally the only tanks, hpalas are the only tank healers, mages are fastest for AOE cheese leveling, and most other classes are just not viable. I mained a prot pally back in the day (wrath) and raided with a mage and warlock as well. What would be your best *first* class fresh on the server to be as viable as possible without any outside help?

    4) How's the server feeling in general? Would I enjoy a chill questing/early dungeon experience there more than on Lordaeron? How's ganking in contested zones in general? Dungeon queues while leveling? How does vanilla reimagined on 3.3.5 feel as a whole?

    5) If you were going to start fresh (no guild, friends, gold, high level alt), where would *you* main, if you were aiming for Loremaster title, doing all dungeons through leveling zones, and wanted to avoid the ridiculous 5.5k gs requirements for normal RDF runs waiting for you at the end of it all?

Thanks for any thoughts, looking forward to rolling *somewhere* in the next few days (after finishing a WC3 playthrough to brush up on where it all came from!)

    1. Nope, no point in doing it, except if you enjoy it that way
    2. Now might be the best time to join for Classic raids, youll find spots in most guild and can raid a lot raids on one character
    3. Might be a bit late for tank, but healers and warlocks should work well for most guilds
    4. Depends on what you enjoy - but in general i wouldnt recommend playing on your own, join a good guild/community and youll have lots of fun
    5. Onyxia is gonna be the best experience as for now, as people will be doing all content throughout the expansions and some guilds might stick together after the realm is finished, while on Lordaeron youd have to join for endgame content mostly and any people doing such stuff as you mentioned are done with it already, long time ago.

Thanks for the thoughts man, will definitely be rolling Ony in that case!

Would you recommend a warlock or a paladin (understanding I'll only be healing at 60)? Keeping in mind what would be the most quality of life leveling experience as well as what would be a great starter for TBC.

Id recommend you to roll paladin - while the leveling experience on your own wont be fun, you can heal in dungeons and will have a way easier time getting into raids, along with having the option to switch to any spec in TBC as they all become viable then.

Feel free to send me ingame mail once youve created your character, ill drop you some potions and bags so you suffer less while leveling :D
