Gearscore in duels

Hi guys, I'm new and not really sure if I understand the gearscore correctly, my question is : knowing that warrior ( for example ) wear plate and rogue wear leather, is it "fair" for a 5.5kgs rogue to duel a 5.5kgs warrior? If rogue wear leather and have 5.5kgs and warrior wear plates but have the same 5.5kgs isn't the rogue better geared than the warr even if the gearscore is the same ? I mean can't plate class reach like 5.3kgs wearing "uncommon" rarity gear ?

Gearscore means nothing to be honest. Items of same level/GS are treated equally. If warriors can reach it, so do rogues. Type of gear (PvE or PvP) also matters.
