1. Does Race-Specific (1) Riding skill convert into Journeyman (150) Riding?

Currently, if you're a human, you learn "Horse Riding" from Randal Hunter in Elwynn Forest. It's the only thing he teaches for 16g with my discount. This "Horse Riding" allows you to ride blue/slow or swift/purple mounts. There is no 75/150 listed in the Skill pane. The mounts claim to need (1).

In TBC there is 75/150/225/300 riding skill, and from the faction trainers, there is no "Horse Riding" or "Mechanostrider Piloting" as it's replaced with "Apprentice Riding" and "Journeyman Riding" with Expert and Artisan being flying.

Do we need to own a Swift mount in order to auto-learn Journeyman Riding during TBC transition? What about Warlocks who don't have the Dreadsteed? Players in Classic WoW had their skill increased from 75 to 150 upon earning their Dreadsteed, but there aren't such numerical skills on the Onyxia server. It was considered an economic investment to spend 150+ gold on the Dreadsteed to avoid the Journeyman Riding cost, but with Horse/Wolf/Tiger/Ram Riding, you already gain access to Swift mounts.

  2. If they do it like retail did it(or atleast classic), having a swift mount will translate into having the riding skill for it.

But what if you paid 20g for the Horse Riding and never bought a mount? Does your riding skill disappear?

  4. on retail, surely having just the riding skill converted to 75 riding skill. but having a quick mount was mandatory to receive 150 riding.
its just very unlikely to find something that niche specific somewhere archived, given that retail mobs especially in dungeons drop a lot more gold compared to warmane and an average leveler on x1 rates has had about 60-70g upon reaching level 40, while on private servers (on x1 rates) you typically end up with 20-25g at 40)

Sure, but I'd still like an official answer from someone. I'm worried this will be overlooked, and we'll all end up having to re-buy all the riding skills. Although on most TBC servers, I do notice that Apprentice Riding, even though it has a cost, is listed as free. But as you can imagine, on a Warlock, I want to know if I should buy the 100g pvp mount, since it's the cheapest Swift option.

  6. Riding skill should have been added to onyxia at this point.
As you can see in patch notes:
    https://wowwiki-archive.fandom.com/wiki/Patch_1.12.1

So, anyone with 100% mount (PvP, Class Specific, or Rare Mount drop) should have his riding skill converted into 150.
Also when it comes to pvp mounts, they should require no "Race Specific" riding skill at this point and you should be able to buy most (if not all of them depending on your race - sorry taurens)

But what If you have Mechanostrider Piloting but didn't buy a mount? That's the topic question. This server is a hybrid of Classic and '04 and even the FAQ you linked doesn't answer that question. I assume they'll at least give me Apprentice Riding because I have SOME riding skill. My warlock has the PvP mount instead of the Dreadsteed, so I'm wondering about that too.

    Slow mount = 75 Skill
    Fast mount = 150 skill
    No mount = No Skill

I think thats how it should work.
