1. Onyxia VS Classic TBC

I was under the impression that the ridingcost+mount was going down in TBC of Onyxia and on the other hand dual spec was going up in gold price. So i was saving gold for epic mount, while purchasing dual spec for the alts i'm interested, but i've gone to ptr and i talk to the riding trainer and no window opens, so i can't be sure it seems.

Does anyone has confirmation on this? Can't see its mention on news tracker nor devlog.

  2. The big change to mount cost happen in Wrath:

    WotLK Patch 3.2.0 (patch date::04-Aug-2009):
Apprentice Riding (Skill 75): Can now be learned at level 20 for 4g. Mail will be sent to players who reach level 20 directing them to the riding trainer.
Journeyman Riding (Skill 150): Can now be learned at level 40 for 50g. Mail will be sent to players who reach level 40 directing them back to the riding trainer.
Expert Riding (Skill 225): Can now be learned at level 60 for 600g from trainers in Honor Hold or Thrallmar.

  3. Riding is cheaper in TBC normally so i dont see the reason for it to be diffrent on onyxia, dual spec doesnt exist untill wrath so cost only depends on warmane decision but it will be probably still 100g.

It did change in late TBC, too. Patch 2.4.3. Apprentice was dropped to level 30 and cost of 35g.

  5. You are correct, and the PTR has a glitch mixing up Journeyman and Expert Riding. I'll clear up some confusion once and for all.
Currently, if you are a gnome, and you visit Binjy Featherwhistle in Kharanos, he teaches you "Mechanostrider Piloting" available for 20g before discount. Blue 60% mounts are 64g after my honored discount.

This race-specific riding training will be removed and replaced with common "Apprentice Riding" which is currently 90g but will be lowered to 35g in TBC as reflected in the PTR. If you're seeing the riding costs go UP it's because of this racial riding discount disappearing.

However, and this is important, mount costs will be drastically REDUCED next expansion, with blue 60% mounts being 10g and 100% mounts being 100g before rep discounts.

In conclusion, if you are without riding and/or a mount right now, it's best to go to your race's trainer and learn "Horse Riding" or "Tiger riding" or "Ram Riding" for the low price of 20g and then wait to purchase a mount until TBC comes out, for the low price of 10g. Your 20g riding cost, right now, allows you to ride both 60% and 100% mounts. However, it appears you're correct about Journeyman Riding Training because it's supposed to be 50g and it's currently at 480g after Exalted discount.

I'm sure they're aware of this by now, because the idea of paying 600g for swift ground mounts when it's supposed to be 50g would invoke the ire of many.

  6. Correct, Warmane has it correct. Journeyman is 600g (swift ground) and Expert is 800g (slow flying)

Looks like they're going with the retail version for this particular thing. In Classic, the slow flying mount moves at 150% but back in 2007 it moved at 60% and the costs are much different.

  7. You can always expect the retail version, not the classic version. We are, after all, not offering classic, nor do we use the classic client. I see people get this confused quite frequently, especially when they go looking for information resources that cite things that are different.

I hope you understand that to some, it feels like a hybrid of Retail & Classic due to the innate quality of life improvements brought by the Wrath client. Very few of us were around for the transition in 2007. Will PvP titles remain obtainable? Does Horse Riding convert into Apprentice or Journeyman Riding? Will progression be as rapid as Vanilla? Any custom catch-up mechanics for brand new arrivals such as myself?

i would suggest you play TBC on warmanes blackrock

" catch-up mechanics for brand new arrivals"
on blackrock you will be giving a fresh brand new level 70 "as many as you want" and any and all gear will come from honor/arena vendors. even professions and rep based rewards will come from honor/pvp vendors on blackrock so no need to grind to catch up.

not 100% sure about mounts on blackrock but im going to guess they be the same as the rest as i started above?

  10. Guys do the mounts get shared across all alts? Or is it dumb like vanilla?

shared mounts across all your characters is not a vanilla, tbc or wrath thing bro.
