WotLK Setting/changes not staying after game Restart

Hey all was wondering if i am the only one having these issues,

downloaded the client via the website. open the game. adjust the graphics/resolution. set the Bartender bars to my liking.
when i restart the game everything is reverted back to windowed/graphics to custom from high. bars are back to default.

I re-downloaded the files and started from zero same results, I have tried on 3 seperate drives and same result.
tried without mods and again same, every time i close the game, all changes are reverted and i can't figure out what is happening.

Looking for some suggestions on how to resolve it,am enjoying the servers but this is a major annoyance.

problem is that your wow folder is "read-only"
