1. Playing on Linux

Hi all fellow Defenders of Azeroth
SO i want to try and test it how it will run on Ubuntu Linux how can i download it and set it up
    does anybody knows ?
is there anyway to play A Private server on Linux ?
the retail u just download Battle.net and t runs but .....

    Thank you in Advance :)))))

  2. I am successfully playing Warmane WotLK on linux via the Lutris program. I can't provide further support or advice as I don't really know enough of what I'm doing, but I eventually got it working and plays fine - same FPS as on window$.

  3. You have several options but like many games there is no linux build games. So you have to download the games like you did on window then use lutris, wine, or whatever to "emulate" it. (It's not really an emulation it's more complicate). The thing is there is a better support for old tech like d9x, especially if you use amd gpu. I use Fedora, debian,.

  4. I really appreciate it
I will give it a try
The problem is that I have some lag playing I mean i play and from time to time it freezes for 2 seconds and goes again and on raids that’s really not fun ???*??

    Thank you again …

  5. mmh idk I have 0 lag. Sometimes wine does not responsde but it's rare.

  6. You can download it by installing the Orion BitTorrent Manager. Simply open the Discover application on your PC, type "Orion" in the search bar, and install it. Once installed, open Orion and visit the Warmane download website. Select "Windows/WOTLK" to begin. I personally use the Brave browser, which comes with a built-in BitTorrent client. However, it’s not very efficient; the only advantage is that it allows me to copy the magnet link easily.

    magnet:?xt=urn:btih:5B65D1928A3025A820B45E6DB2451A AAABC5347C&dn=World%20of%20Warcraft%203.3.5a&tr=ud p%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80%2fannoun ce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.opentrackr.org%3a1337%2f announce

Open Orion, locate the section where you can paste the magnet link, and start the download.

    Hope it helped!

I have been getting weird issues that look like packet loss in game (I can move around but everyone else is stuck running, or if I got into a different part of the city or zone, no players or NPC's show up), but if I run a ping in the background (to warmane server IP) at the same time this shows zero packet loss.

Have tried searching online for answers but seems no one else get this specific issue - most issues other people have seem to be graphics related.

    Are you using Lutris?

  8. I don't use Lutris, I directly use wine. Lutris is a "gaming system friendly users" with others features which run wine/proton. What you describe look like internet matter more like lutris or whatever you use. Look at yor ISP, especially if you are from america. In my memory there is a "metric" pannel incorporate on lutris (may be wine) that allow you to see real fps, network,....

  9. Yes graphic matter happen especially if you use nvidia because they don't release theirs drivers from linux. Nvidia driver on linux are made by retro-engi. It's changing Nvidia are strating to release a part of theirs codes but some seems to be under brevet. The drivers nvidia release only fully support gen 2000 and more.

Thanks for reply. I have been trying a VPN and seems better but still getting weird lag spikes. It's probably the wifi setup I'm guessing and / or wifi drivers in linux as a bit old and no newer versions.
I will persist and see how goes. Thanks

  11. Nah nothing wrong with wifi driver. It's a matter I saw often with american people. And it's more an ISP matter than others stuffs.

  12. My issues fixed - now using a wired connection. Works flawlessly for several days / testing now.
Either wifi driver or linux mint network manager playing up (or something else related to wifi).
    FYI to all and YMMV.
