its abit crazy how hard it is to find a guild in icecrown...
came back after a year of hiatus of playing hardcore speedrunning in SOD just to find myself stranded here trying to find a guild, it looks like nobody is recruiting, or i dont know where to look for recruitment pages, as forums are either new guilds struggling to get 10 mans, or dead threads getting necroed,
anyway maybe someone will be willing to give me a spot in a guild and hopefuly in a raid...
6.1k gs fire mage, 7 bosses down in HC25, all on normal ofcourse, barely played 10hcman but willing to do some runs (for achievs mainly) can raid any day on eu times (willing to wake up in the middle of night if youre NA/oceanic guild, preferably not on weekends (but can play) drop your disc or info here ill check each and every one,
later on if i get geared enough willing to do speedruns as its mainly the reason i play wow on each server.
Theres plenty of guilds ranging from multiple HC clearing guilds, to progression guilds. Would probably help if you dropped what faction you are.
also your post is quite confusing, saying you have 7 bosses down in HC, then saying normal of course. HC is used as an abbreviation FOR heroic. Do you mean 7 bosses down in ICC Normal 25?
I know this is of little help, but, I'm in Icecrown Alliance and I concur: finding a progression guild to begin playing is next to impossible. 90% of recruitment is "we are farming lod, we only accept players with several bis alts" and the other 10% are progression guilds that can't even fill one icc 10n and die within a few weeks.
That's true, all the new progression guilds just fill up in few days, stop recruiting and are on their way to 12/12hc farm one month after guild creation.
There is a distinct lack of leaders, no one just wants to bother.

That's not what I said. What I said is that there is not or I can't see a path from "let's start doing 10n and see what happens" to "let's farm lod", which is what new players who want to invest themselves in the game need.
I theorise that, since the game (and the realm) is old, there is a polarisation in the playerbase, where on one side you have newish players who are casual and don't want to spend too much time a week playing wow and/or can't be arsed to learn to play properly, and on the other side you have the experienced players who have belonged to the same clique for a decade and don't have to see the community from the outside.
Is it a lack of leadership? Of course. But new players are not in the best spot to lead. The optimal solution would be to have the experienced players leading new guilds, but one doesn't always get the optimal solution.
I mean it as, once every two weeks a proper guild pops up, gathers their 5kgs noobs who can read, fills up in 3 days and that's it, they go up and up to 12/12hc farm. Remaining 90% of the time what's left is exactly what you said - - - no progress, just some dudes who make a guild and think something magically will happen on it's own.
Solution is just to keep looking, proper progression guilds pup up sometimes.
Well, I posted 2 months ago to look for ppl to enjoy raiding, 3 answers not serious contacts in game!
Either guilds are looking for super players with all content done and controlled, or they are just new groups of friends super geared (donating, boostings, etc), playing together and inviting just ppl to fill up their raids, so you can sit down and wait for an opportunity to join them, then you can try to fit in the group, and maybe, they TOLARATE you in if you are skilled and geared, if not the comments on your first raid with them is going to make you throw the pc through the window.
Then 99% of players join pugs to find just one item (trinkets and weapons usually) so, they are trolls and leavers, etc. They want to manage and organize the raids themselves, they don't support or understand that there are more than one way to do things.. etc
So how can you develop your chars, class, spec within a guild where, when you just are not on top of the meter they (the super pro) just instead of helping, just insult ppl, or say that this group is not good enough., many more ****....., and if you raid well, then core farming dkps players just take all for themselves and their alters....Then you have to pug, and back again to the beginning...
So every guild follows the same patterns and philosophy, thats why old guilds are always looking for players, and new ones cannot get good players (NOT skilled, good players) to progress.
You can see all day long 'good raiding guilds' adverts in global, then they pug some raids, and their guildies equip low geared items in order to 'help' their guildies to get what they need, they blame ppl and each other on some mistakes, start insulting/blaming players for just one mistake, etc Do you really want to join to this guys....well, if you do you are or become one of them and will behave as such in order to get geared...so....
It could be easier and much more fun for sure, but there is a lot of waste of time...
Sometimes looks like you get into a good raiding guild but then you are allowed to join their raids when they raid with their 4.7 gs, and still they speak and behave like if they are making you a favor, this is not boosting them, they can tank and heal hc bosses cos they are very good, dk tank 3.7 main tank, sureeeee mate you are so good.....
Kind of frustrating?????
Try to set up a good pug then....... and wait for the best!!!
Yeah, I once told one retri pala that he has to have aura mastery and he should go reset talents before we start. It is perfectly reasonable when you invite retri - you will have one aura mastery, right? It's as basic as it gets.
You think he was like "oh yeah", went and made a proper talent build?
Nah.
He got mad about how I insulted and humiliated him. Of coarse he was kicked from the guild and raid on the spot, but in his eyes he was the victim while 24ppl were waiting on his ****, wasting time dealing with his bull****.
That is with whom you are playing in pugs. So I always wander, from where do people get some idea that there will be "good pugs" or something? Baseline is wipe and ro at dbs, because beasts are just too complex of a mechanic. Anything beyond that is a nice and unexpected bonus and you should fell like unicorns and rainbows are dancing in your soul after each extra 2 EOF gift from the kind and merciful universe.
Path to your objective is very simple - create or join a guild where people can read, we have crystallization of 15 years worth of knowledge we have at our disposal. You want to be one of and go with players who are using it. Otherwise - you get what you deserve.
