WotLK Jewelcrafting newbie

Hello, I just started playing WOW three weeks ago and everything is kinda new to me. I'm trying to find info everywhere, but sometimes it's hard, so I thought maybe I can write here.

I have 450lvl Jewelcrafting and I wanted to make best gems (As far as I know it's Dragon's eye) to put it in my BIS gear (Leggings of woven death - which has three sockets RED, YELLOW, BLUE). So I made three gems out of Dragon's eye:

Runed Dragon's EYE - RED (+39 Spell power)
Stormy Dragon's eye - BLUE (+43 Spell penetration)
Mystic Dragon's eye - YELLOW (+34 Resillience rating)

I put two of them (RED and BLUE) into my pants socket and it doesn't let me put third. It says: "You have the maximum number of gems socketed into equipped items".

So you can only have 2 gems made from Dragon's eye?

3 is the limit. You may have placed one Dragon's Eye to other item.
