I am writing to propose the creation of official speedrun leaderboards for Warmane. Speedrunning is a popular and engaging activity where players aim to complete in-game challenges as quickly as possible. Establishing a ranking system would not only foster community engagement but also attract new players who are interested in competing for the fastest times across various game modes.
Proposal Overview: I suggest that Warmane implements a speedrun leaderboard across multiple categories, with clear rules for each, and a structured system that can track and showcase the best performances. Here are the key elements of the proposal:
1. Categories of Speedruns
The following categories could be tracked on the leaderboard:
? Leveling Speedruns:
? 1-60, 1-70, or 1-80 runs on various expansions (Vanilla, TBC, WotLK, etc.)
? Possible restrictions (e.g., solo play, no external help, class restrictions)
? Raids & Dungeons:
? Fastest completions of specific raids or dungeons on different difficulty levels (Normal, Heroic)
? Optional challenge modes or specific boss kill speedruns
? Achievements & Miscellaneous:
? Achievement-related speedruns, such as completing specific achievements in record time.
? Hardcore Challenge Runs:
? No-death leveling or raid completion categories, appealing to those who want extra difficulty.
2. Rules for Speedruns
Clear and consistent rules would be essential to ensuring fairness:
? Timer Start/End: The timer should begin at a specific event (e.g., character creation or raid start) and end when the final objective is completed (e.g.,
level 60, final raid boss kill).
? Solo vs. Group: Separate leaderboards could exist for solo runs and group/team runs, to account for different playstyles.
? External Help: Define if using boosts, guild help, or external software is allowed or not.
? Category-Specific Rules: For example, in raid runs, any skipped mechanics or unusual strategies should be noted.
3. Leaderboard System
The leaderboard could be implemented on the Warmane website, with a clear, user-friendly interface that displays:
? Top Times: Showcasing the fastest times for each category.
? Filters: Players should be able to filter results by expansion (e.g., Vanilla, TBC, WotLK), difficulty (e.g., Normal, Heroic), or playstyle (solo or group).
? Verification: To prevent cheating or false entries, a verification system could be put in place, such as video evidence or in-game logs to verify the times.
4. Additional Features
? Community Engagement: Incorporate community-driven events or tournaments based on speedruns, where players can compete for seasonal titles or
rewards.
? Incentives: Consider offering special in-game rewards (e.g., titles, mount skins, or achievements) for players who achieve the fastest times in specific
categories.
5. Benefits to Warmane
? Increased Server Activity: Speedrunning can encourage players to engage with the content in different ways, leading to more active gameplay and
competition.
? Attraction of New Players: The challenge and prestige of leaderboard rankings could attract more competitive players.
? Community Building: Speedruns create a sense of community as players compare times, discuss strategies, and encourage each other to improve their
skills.
Conclusion:
I believe implementing an official speedrun ranking system would add a new level of excitement to Warmane and give players an additional avenue to challenge themselves and show off their skills. This proposal is designed to foster competition, increase community interaction, and enhance the overall Warmane experience.
I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this suggestion, and I’m happy to work with the community and staff to refine the details and ensure that the leaderboard system is fair, engaging, and fun for everyone.
Speedruns that aren't done in controlled environment are bound to be abused, and disruptive toxicity would only spark annoyance. So any kind of level 1-60-70-80 is pointless. Boss kill times are easy to track and confirm.
Staff resources are better used elsewhere than watching hours on end speedrun videos or logs.
Makes sense, well lets say it like this i did put everything i saw what people like from streams, vods, forums and other leaderboards. Doesnt mean to put everything in it.
