My take on pvp

So let me start off by saying wotlk was my favorite expansion and the only one i've ever played. I didn't play retail wotlk. When blizzard started vanilla server, I started at the very end of tbc. Once wotlk was released (2 years ago?) I leveled my mage and my rogue and geared for pvp. When I started I kinda had the idea that pvp was really fun and that's what I was going to do. Well, I did just that. It was SOOOOO much fun. Everything was so balanced or as much as it could be. The arena system was so nice. You could inspect a player, see what their rating is, and know if they were roughly on the same skill level as you. Well, once cata came out, i tried it and it was awful so i quit. Well now i'm on here because I loved wotlk pvp so much, but there seems to be an issue... Everyone on here is "2k xp"...? Well how can i know that? Well I just have to take their word because every other player you que with has started a new team and the team rating is 0. So instead of knowing before I que with someone if we are even close to the same skill level, I just kinda have to trust them. Why is this like this? On the flip side, at least if a glad team wants to start a new team, they can stomp everyone in the que until their mmr goes up to reflect their actual skill level???? Why is this like this? It seems like it is not balanced what so ever. I am not usually one to complain, but this has kinda ruined the pvp experience for me. Not to mention like the system is not set up for new players or to help new players improve, so forget the idea of having people come in and the pvp scene grow. Every other que is either a 1.5k rated team or a 2.2k+ team. In wotlk classic, what is now cataclysm, if you were 1.2k, then you went vs other 1.2k players. Like if all you knew how to do was press a few buttons, you could still win games and as you improved your rating would reflect. You could do what I did and go from 0 game knowledge to a 2.5k xp player in 1 year. But that does not seem at all possible here. Am i missing something? I really don't usually complain but it just seems like the arena system is so broken. It's just taking so much of the fun away that it was a year ago. Wotlk classic was probably the #1 pvp game i've ever played. This is prob 3/10 tbh.
