I understand is not much of a rotation as a DK, but im a bit confused.
Im trying to learn either blood either frost. Keep hearing that blood is the best to go for. I dont mind wich spec but i started with blood.
So, im opening with Icy Touch and Blood strike, follow up with a Death Strike to make some death runes. After i use 2 blood runes on blood strike or what i see needed.
But it gets to a point where i have all death runes or 4 of them and 2 blood runes depends what i throw in there.
Pestilence is always used when to refresh diseases (with glyps). But what do i use all this Death Runes for ? Constant spam of Death Strikes or Icy Touches and after convert this frost runes back to Death Runes when i can ?
Basically i dont understand what to do when i get to Death Rune usage.
Frost seems easier as far as i watched some videos. I mostly wanna go for heroic dungeons so is Frost better ? Thats what i understood cause of more aoe threat on Frost. But still id like to know how to play Blood spec.
There is no rotation, you use icy touch when you need more threat, use death strikes when you need more healing // when threat is fine - to covert to death runes. These death runes simply give you great flexibility - use them as normal, use them for icy touch spam and there is a huge benefit that you can use vampiric blood instantly. You cant wait 5 second for your blood rune when you need def cd RIGHT NOW, especially when you have no experience and don't know what will happen.
Blood with death and decay cd reduction in unholy tree is the best thing for dungeons. It cuts in half usual situations where you spread and then it/strike targets with lowest threat.

its more like how u prioritizing your abilities rather than rotation, your job is to keep your threat on top all the time as main priority. so icy touch is pretty much your main spell. so, u'll mostly gonna use death runes for icy touch.
for single mob/bosses, icy touch is your main threat source and your main priority spell. use Sigil of the Frozen Conscience to add superglue on your icy touch. u can also que rune strike for extra threat to spend your rp.
Dnd is your sole aoe high threat spell, so putting 3 pts in morbidity talent would be helpful for dungeons. but for raid ull have tot and md from rog and hunter, so that talent isnt necessary.
i prefer blood boil than blood strike to spend blood rune, cz its aoe. icy touch is your single threat generator.

frost doesnt have Will of the Necropolis and hysteria to boost the big dick dps in your party.
Thanks for two good replies, i apreciate it.
Basically produce death runes and use them on what it feels like it would be most needed ability and so on. Not spaming them on something in particular.
One more thing, about threat. How do i know i need more threat ? Should i use some addon to keep an eye on it ?
Played warrior before and never had a need for jeeping an eye on threat. Usually when loosing agro a simple taunt and pump skills was enough. Maybe same idea with DK's ? If taunt then icy touches, if not use other things ?
Im aware loosing agro is crap. But usually im snappy on the button. Also dont remember seeing a lot of threat talents or boosters
There are plenty of addons, like Omen and a bunch that shows threat on nameplates.
There is also a built-in system that colors your target to red(secure) to orage-yellow-ish when there is someone approaching your threat. You can even enable it to show % iirc.
Frost presence gives you threat multiplier in general as well as some high treat abilities - icy touch, death and decay and rune strike. And losing aggro is not an option on most bosses in raids(cones, cleaves, etc). Usually it's not a big deal, but it end in a wipe somtimes. Either way, it's a clear sign that you are not doing your job.

i know. Why im asking is that i stoped playing the game for 8 years and now when back i find a lot harder to deal with in terms of addons. Harder then before because a lot of addons updated for 3.4.0 thats all. But you are right, losing agro is bad better not to think about it.
well, i tried it just one time in heroic dungeon. Working and family doesnt let me do my things :)
There was so much to get used to as blood that i was a mess. Forgot to use frost presence and my party had 2 dps wich were like 5k plus gear. Me being 3k roughly.
It was rough. Main thing was how to use death runes. Im being honest i was a mess just using them on whatever. The fact that i had to taunt so much cause of those 2 party dps doing a great job made my life so hard.
If theres anything that could help make my life easier, id apreciate it. Im just not sure what im looking for.
im not a pro in tanking, but here is my algorithm.
first of all, macro Rune Strike to ALL your spells (maybe besides Pestilence, in case you will need rune power for Death Pact or AMS)
IF fight starts:
opening for max agro: icy touch, icy touch, blood tap into another icy touch, empower rune weapon into another icy touches. basically spam icy touch for best agro.
IF fight is going and AGRO is bad:
icy touches (macroed with rune strike ofc)
IF fight is going and you good on agro:
-keep both Frost Fever and Blood Plague ticking on boss
-keep Blade Barrier up always. I usually do it either by refreshing Pestilence TWICE, or Rune Tap + Pestilence (when healing is needed), or Blood Strike + Pestilence.
-main part of rotation is to track incoming damage and instantly use Rune Tap and/or Death Strike(s) WHILE spamming keybind for separate Rune Strike ability.
