WotLK Requesting Rules Clarification: Client Modification - Cast Bars on Nameplates

Hey folks,

I've recently started playing here and searching the forums for various things I've come across HD clients and so on which I'm assuming are fine to use, my question though is as follows:

Is it against the rules to modify the client to enable cast bars on non-targetted enemies? I've seen this boasted in one of the alternative client packs but then I've seen an executable posted elsewhere on the forum claiming to add this to any client followed by users stating it's against the rules to do so.

I'd love to use this but would prefer to follow the rules so I wanted to post this thread and ask for clarity on the subject.

In theory, any client modification is bannable.

In practice, only certain client modifications are watched for by the anti-cheat system. Don't be surprised if the cast bars patch is eventually added to the list of modifications that are watched and you get banned. Also, don't be surprised if this never occurs.

Thanks for the reply, is that list posted anywhere? As I said it's my intention to stay within the rules but I did not see such a thing when searching, entirely possible I missed it though.

No, there is no such list. Use common sense when applying client modifications and, if in doubt, don't.
