Same problem. I can log in to character screen, but when trying to log any of my characters, it says "Log in failed", or disconnects to log in screen after 30 seconds.

Yeah, I have the exact same problem since yesterday. Logging into account, then long "retrieving character list", then automatic disconnect. Same story on every realm. Using no VPNs or other software.
