1. MS > OS or BiS > MS > OS ?

Which loot rule is considered the "default" ?
Most raids don't even announce their loot rules, so we naturally assume it's MS > OS. But then situations come up where the raid leader doesn't give the item to the person who actually won the roll, saying it's not BiS for them, and instead gives it to someone who rolled lower because it's supposedly their BiS item.

When I told the raid leader that he didn't mention "BiS prio", he responded with: "It's common sense".
Honestly, I feel robbed... The item was a major upgrade for my setup, but they gave it to someone who only got like a few spell power increase just to feel complete.

Should I report that player? Do GMs even care about so called BiS lists?
Is BiS priority actually considered an obvious rule? Because as far as I know, those BiS lists are just made by spreadsheet nerds. They're not some kind of universal truth. Also, strict BiS chasing limits the ability to experiment and develop character based on personal playstyle...

  2. The item I'm talking about is Holiday's Grace.
My goal is to build a Flash of Light Holy Paladin with Crit/MP5, but people keep telling me I should play a Holy Light Haste build instead which I personally don't enjoy.

I like the feeling of never running out of mana, even when spamming heals for 10 minutes straight without needing Divine Plea or Innvervate.
So why does a Discipline Priest get priority over my preferred playstyle?

  3. In general, MS > OS. This is how, I expect, GM's operates on, unless there's some more specific ruling set by RL.

This "BiS > MS" is also questionable. BiS based on what, a vague list on a random website? Did RL list BiS lists, or something? IS RL's BiS list even accurate? Does it count races as well?

"It's common sense" isn't a rule. It was never stated, and even if it were, what would be the specifics of it?

  4. From here: https://forum.warmane.com/showthread.php?t=65037

    IN-GAME NINJA POLICY
    Example of forbidden acts:
Master Looter taking items that were not reserved or giving them to players that did not win, unless it's 2nd highest roll when winner had no use for the item (rogue rolling on caster trinket).
Changing looting rules during the raid, after it has started.Example: You joined a raid that was being advertised as one with no reserved items and after first boss raid leader says that he reserves item x from last boss.

Pretty sure if they: 1) did not announce the rule they just made up, and 2) you had use for the item -> then not giving you the item you won the roll for looks... quite like a ninja to me.

P.S. oh and mp5 and CRIT (?!) on a Disc Priest is...

  5. The item I'm talking about is Holiday's Grace.

It's on you to make sure the lootrules suit you before you join a raid. If they're not stated assume it's MS > OS and you're allowed to roll on any upgrade for your current equip.

But just one thing: You are the one wanting to fight against the current. So make it clear you don't want to play a "proper" hpal but some weird, massively gimped spec by ignoring half your abilities and thus aim for unusual gear.

And disco getting prio on their generally considered BiS-Item, as they just don't need haste like at all beyond what they get naturally on non-exchangeable pieces like weapon, cloak and bracers, is the norm when you don't mention being the oddball.

  6. I'd rather ask the question how the hell did you get into a raid as a Flash of Light Hpala in the first place? Clearly the lead is **** but I wouldn't call him a ninja.

If you want to play your gimped snowflake builds in PVE and roll on items that are obviously not for you (looking at you DBW rolling retris), you should specify and agree the loot rules before the raid, get it in clear writing that is what you want to roll on.

I don't know what Warmane's stance on that situation is but if I was leading that raid and you rolled it without saying first you are specifically rolling items not for your class I'd also probably get banned for ninja because I'm not giving you that item either.
