Question about ghost wolf hunter pet

Hello everyone,

I recently joined a raid and noticed a hunter had a ghost wolf pet. It looked just like a shaman’s Ghost Wolf, but it was being used as a normal hunter pet. I play MM spec, so I know it’s not Skoll or any other Spirit Beast.

A few years ago, on Molten, I tamed what I thought was the same pet in Dustwallow Marsh. However, after doing some research online, it seems that this pet is not available to be tamed and may have never been legitimately tameable.

My questions are:

How could that hunter have a ghost wolf pet?

Is there any way to obtain the same pet today?

I think it worked for a while and then it was fixed. So it has to be a really old pet...
