1. Gathering bots on Onyxia

Good afternoon, recently while gathering nodes and herbs on Northrend I've come across numerous bots, mostly in Sholazar Basin but all over the place, same thing was happening in TBC but as I was reporting them, the GMs would respond that they will take a look at the reported player and act accordingly, which has not seemed to be the case since we transitioned to WOTLK. Reporting a player for botting now gets you a GM response asking you to submit proof, basically to record the player you suspect of botting upload it to youtube and attach the link.

What has changed in comparison to TBC and why the GMs are asking players to do their job is unknown to me, either way I wanted to propose a suggestion, make it so that if a bot is banned thanks to a player report who recorded a video of them botting, uploaded it to youtube and gave everything to a GM on a silver plater, make it that the player receives the bots inventory in exchange, if the report turns out to be true and the player is indeed a bot and gets banned.

If I am expected to do GMs job I would like to be motivated in a way, unless you guys benefit from bots, then that's a whole other story.

  2. make it so that if a bot is banned thanks to a player report who recorded a video of them botting, uploaded it to youtube and gave everything to a GM on a silver plater, make it that the player receives the bots inventory in exchange
I'll just start a bot farm and report them when they've run their course. I get to keep the botted goods I botted for.

You think that's a smart suggestion?

  3. Not worth it and never going to happen, it takes 20 coins to boost a character to max level, and it takes days to get the maximum level for both professions to be able to farm, if they implemented my suggestion there would be people actively hunting bots all over the world, I guarantee most of them wouldn't even make it to max profession level, and even if they somehow manage to slip through and get to farming, I'd assume it takes about 2 days to farm full bags with all the competition which yields in about 10K gold which is about 30 coins, so yeah that's definitely not viable. Also, you're risking getting ip/hardware banned.

So yes, I think it's a smart suggestion, and I'll ask people to refrain from commenting just so they comment, I've seen you do this a lot and it's none of my business but if you have nothing constructive to bring to the conversation please spare me.

  4. GMs' job never was and never will be to waste their time going after every Trust-Me-Bro level random's word who makes a report with zero evidence beyond "that character is a bot because I said so." Your assessment of what their job is is very alike your assessment of your own suggestion.

PS: Since I got asked, no, it wasn't the content of the thread that got the player banned. It's self-entitled, shortsighted and makes dumb assumptions, but those aren't against rules. What almost without fail happens in cases like this is that the poster, after getting a thread locked or deleted, has a moment of pure genius and figures out the best way to handle the situation with maturity is to send PMs with insults at Staff or the server itself.
