Since when has the RS adds been changed? They move around in bigger groups now. Nowadays it seems impossible for a pug group to clear the adds since after one fail on the adds the entire group just leaves.

That's actually a good thing. A group that can't even handle the trash mobs is probably not suitable for killing the bosses either.
It's better for the group to fall apart before the first boss than after you've already gotten saved to the raid ID.
The trash should normally be there, the fact that it wasn't there was a bug in the game.
Not really. The guild I'm in been doing RS25HC on farm and after the change we sometimes wipe on adds. That has nothing to do with capability.
