1. Congratz on the halion kill.:) Any chance of a video on that fight? How was the heals and dps like?
    Thanks :)

Unfortunately twitch.tv was undergoing maintenance during our raid time, otherwise we would've streamed the raid. Other than that, out of the 4 people who are able to fraps, 2 weren't in the raid and the other 2 didn't have it on. I'd love l be able to fraps again but I'm afraid the huge FPS drop I get while recording makes it not worthwhile.

Heal-wise, I (Rawrer) was pretty much entirely responsible for Physical Tank heals as our MT on the day, Pallystrike, was only iLvl264 geared, and so took a huge amount of damage. Since we had less people in the Shadow Realm, it wasn't as hard for the 2 healers inside to keep the tank up.

DPS-wise, we didn't have our full core 25, and so to a certain extent, we had to make do with who we had online, which explains the slightly spriest heavy setup. Halion was downed with 22 seconds to spare.

We'll be streaming it next week, given that twitch.tv is online and Fae is raiding :)

Awesome! You guys did it even without your core raid. Very nice healing done there by you too and I guess a holy paladin is needed in this fight. From the recount, I can see that you've got 4 dps in the shadow realm. Any tips for the halion fight? Gotta try halion next week with your setup.

Anyway, is the recount accurate? Really weird to have a shaman top your dps meter. Is he using the bug enhancement build;) or is he the only dps left at the end of the halion fight?
Since Molten fixed DR bug, holy paladin will be 1# healer in every raid. As for tips - control the fight or it will control you. That's all I have to say. Recount is accurate, most likely our shaman used lots of magma totems and fire novas and some chain lightnings.

I didn't mean to to make it sound like I was bragging, it's just that I wouldn't have gone for this setup for if we had all of our core raiders :P Bubblemaker was Ele, and therefore was able to drop his Magma totem and Fire Nova the adds, while still maintaining single target dps on Halion, which will explain why he topped :)

In terms of healers, I love my Holy Priest and Holy Paladin the best out of all of my characters, and I do admit having a great Holy Paladin in any raid is a must.

Even with 4 dps in Shadow, we were able to balance out the Corporeality, as they were pretty much BiS melees, with a 100% uptime on the boss, unlike in Physical Realm where there is constant switching of targets.

As for tips, just make sure you have a raid composition that includes classes able to AoE efficiently, to get the adds under control. Also make sure your leaders on RaidCall (or TS, Vent etc) are able to stay calm, and give clear instructions. Your raid members also need to be able to listen to your commands, so when you tell them to stop tunnelling the boss and kill the adds, all 19 dps (or whatever you're running with) do it!

Good Luck but more importantly, have fun with the fight!

  8. It seems like strong AoE classes are highly required in this fight.

  9. player should know what needs to be done with their aoe skill in the fight. I was surprised to see bubblemaker above me, although I don't like to see anyone above me but that's not the point :P, everyone was proficiently clearing adds than tunneling boss.

    Biggest Congratulations from me.

  11. It seems like strong AoE classes are highly required in this fight. However, I still can't decide on the raid composition. In overdozer's fight, their shadow priest and mage was dominating and their shamans were suffering in terms of dps while on your side, it was the complete opposite. How different is your tactic compare to their's?
I dun understand why are you bothering yourself with all this rdps class. Just get 1 rdps from each class for raid buff with the exception of hunters. Get like 3-5 hunters to help with MDs. The rest should be mdps because their dps are not as limited to movement as castors. Problem solved. As to the question why I was top dps: I am awesome in tough raids. :)

I think, as long as your raiders listen carefully, as to when to switch to adds and when to get back on boss, the raid setup won't hugely matter.

Shadow priests and mages do have superb AoE, however, since the adds need to be kept under control, they have also got to watch their aggro and simply stop on the adds if they're generating too much threat. Also, Ele shamans seem to be perfect ad they can drop Magma Totem for adds and still cast those 20k Lava Burst's on the boss :)

In terms of tactics, I think it was pretty much the same, although our MDPS stayed on the boss I'm Phase 3, and only the RDPS switched to the inferno.

May I ask what Realm/Guild you're raiding with?
