Man, I remember when my brother built a computer for me. And he would always just give me his old parts when he upgraded every year. :'|

That's the plan, he's going to get my gpu whenever i upgrade and that's all he really needs for it to be a pretty decent PC.

its not hard, basically chose one motherboard and see the manual for specifications on the rest of the components

Why on earth would you build based on a motherboard instead of a cpu and why would you not make it a bazillion times easier for yourself and just use PCpartpicker to find compatible motherboards (And compatible everything else) in your budget?

Actually putting it together is super easy as well, you got to know how much you are willing to spend and then find parts within that budget. Which pcpartpicker can be a tremendous help

Tomato tomato is for two things that reach the same goal and aren't very different. Comparing by hand vs having a handy list is awfully different.
