Hello, fellow Rogues!
Coming back on the forums from a long X-mass break, I have 3 things to put down:
1) The Restless Blades + Rupture bug got fixed some time ago, but the RvS + Rup bug was still in effect. However, I just noticed that the report got deleted. Does anyone have any info whether the bug has been fixed? I will test it myself too.
Edit: RvS + Rup does not work. Tested as we speak. I wonder why they deleted my report... I will have to repost it.
2) Ea, a guildie of mine, gave me some food for thought and I'd like to share it with you: Main Gauche chain procs stop on your next auto-attack, which basically means that Haste actually becomes a BAD stat for Mastery-stacking Rogues. Any other thoughts on that?
3) Regarding people's questions:
- in order not to end up with 5cp and no RvS, use RvS at the start of your CP cycle, not at the end.
- it doesn't matter if you choose maces, fists, swords, axes or daggers, unless you have a racial bonus to one of these.
- I don't think I need to comment on the weapon speed argument any more than it has already been. Read Deadly Poison. Read Mastery. Read Combat Potency. 2.6 + 1.4
my stats atm are 26 expertise, 9% hit rating, agility > mastery > haste > crit and i did posted in a previous message that i wanted to see if haste is the 2nd stat for us to aim or maybe more important would be more hit ratting, so i reforged all my haste in hit went to heroic dummy and my dps dropped with 2-3 k something like that
if you don`t believe me you can go and test it for yourself
Hit doesn't really change a thing and is a waste after the cap, so ofc your DPS would drop.
My question is if indeed the next auto-attack stops Main Gauche chain procs, doesn't that mean that Haste hurts Mastery with the current bug on it? Shouldn't in that case Crit (since it's the only other choice) be preferrable to Haste?
Are rogues actually capable of topping dps at pure single target fights? Are they alot gear/buff dependant or not so much? Is it going to be hard to gear up a fresh 85 rogue?
Are the darkmoon cards worth buying as starting trinkets?
1 more thing, best 2 professions for a combat pve rogue?
Thanks in advance!

does that answer your question? i only pulled like 58 k on magmaw 10 hc :P didin`t try it on 25
P.S. taralej i didin`t test crit :P
I dont really know much about cata, I've never played it because PvP is just horrible.
I guess that is some quite great dps, no? and magmaw.. that's some sort of tank and spank boss? :P I've never done a raid on cataclysm, yet, so yeah.
No, PvP is not horrible - it's actually the only reason I'm playing Cata, since PvE is too buggy. Not like PvP isn't, but that's another story.
Yes, it's very good DPS. Most people do around 20k - 25k on this boss, as you can see from the screenshot.
Yes, it's a pure tank'n'spank for melees, they barely even need to move. The reason people do so much DPS on it is because it has a phase in which it takes extra damage, similar to Icehowl.
Combat Rogues are top DPS on Molten, because of a couple of extremely powerful positive bugs.
Gearing a fresh 85 Rogue is always hard, because they're a DPS-only class, like mages, locks or hunters and it's hard to get a spot as such.
Rogues are a physical class and as such they're quite gear-dependant. Especially Combat.
Don't waste your money on darkmoon cards.
Best professions? Ugh... Tailoring and Engineering, I guess? 1k AP proc from back and the gloves enchant seem like the best deal for me.
Thanks for replies but yeah, PvP is more than horrible for me so I wont argue about that :)
Hmm okay, im at around 310 iLvl now, I guess it'll take a whole to gear up, worth if dps is that great.
Thanks again.
You can get from 250 to 330 and ready to start heroics in a day through reputations and professions.
Regarding PvP - it's a pity, because Cata is the Rogue expansion, not only PvE-wise, but also PvP. Rogues own now on 4.0 and it's only gonna get better at 4.3.
Yeah that is what I dislike, warriors nerfed to the ground, at least at the points which I enjoy while rogues became pretty much replacement for that everywhere, playing warrior and warlock on wotlk.
Hm alright rdfs here I come i guess.
This is 5 man heroics and some VP gear dps, fully epic rogues do alot more.
@stefaye: Rogues mostly destroy the meter on single target fights, but are alot better on aoe multi add fights because Blade Flurry hitting a lot more than just one target(if I had to guess I'd say it hits all targets in about 10 yards). The only place where we don't excel are burst moment fights, but luckily they are few, and it's mostly because how dot mechanics work for other classes(namely mages, shadow priests, ret palas) not that we don't beat the pants of their advantage on the normal phases. ;)
we'll agree to disagree
mages using combustion on omnitron or spriests spamming DP on halfus and thus getting 200k+ dps on the meter isn't exactly class mechanic and quite frankly, isn't exactly hard to do.
Thus my use of the word "excel" and not "good at". Those are still bugs that define those classes, bosses still die cuz of them.
And still no one answered my question:
if Main Gauche chain procs stop on the next auto-attack, doesn't that mean that Haste becomes a bad stat for Mastery-stacking Combats? This would be correct for Combats with very high Mastery, where they get MG procs and chainprocs on around 1/3 of their hits.
This is purely theoretical, as I don't have the gear to experiment and do research. I think it's an important question however, because it will affect all Combats when more powerful gear becomes available on 4.3. Yes, I am quite confident that Molten will not fix this bug, there isn't even a Bug Report...
