Elemental or Enhancement?

I just noticed this..
My IRL fiance, you know the one I've lived with for 5 years. Plays a shaman, has done for over 3 years.

Must be a shock that people have love lives, are not little 15yo virgins in their rooms lusting over pixels on their screen.

Anyway I'm seriously looking forward to Enhancement in MOP :) Shame my Sham on retail is Resto (was RAF levelling with my mate who levelled as a prot warr, was easier for me to just heal and RDF spam).

I met the lovely woman that is now my wife at the varsity iCafe where we played wow (she doesn't play anymore, though). I know what you mean, some people (especially on private servers) just don't get that there are real people with real lives behind the characters you see.

Anyway, in its current state Enhance > Elem. If everything gets fixed, though, the two should be very close and you're pretty much free to play whatever you like best.

5 min dps test on heroic dummy: 397 ele 25k, 397 enha 38k... Correction of all the bugs ele has would not increase dps by 13k - conclusion: the whole design of ele sux in cata. Since ele relies mostly on direct cast spells, it should at least do sth like arcane mage, unfortunatelly lightning bolt dmg is far from arcane blast, and lava burst crit 50-60k (in raid).. oh cmon enha hits 3 times more with LL which has 2 times longer cd and instant cast (ofc blizz didnt want to make ele too op in pvp so pve dps had to suffer).

Was your elemental attacking the dummy? Did your Flame Shock fall off as Elem (as in the dummy dropped combat)?

Remember that with Elemental's mastery (of which you should have a fairly large amount in t13-ish gear), that 50k crit essentially becomes a 80k crit (if you factor in both spells casted from the same cast) - of course not all the time, but with 30%+ mastery, it's becomes reasonably reliable). Fixing the bugs will definitely bring Elemental much closer (especially the Fire elemental and Elemental Focus bugs). I'm not saying that Elem will beat Enhance, but it will definitely be much closer.

Also, comparing spells directly (as in saying: spell A hits this hard, Spell B hits that hard, A > B therefore class A is better) is just silly. The two specs rely on entirely different mechanics for their dps, so the damage of individual spells is pretty much irrelevant.

I mean, are you going to say Feral dps > Sub dps because Feral's bleeds tick for more?
