I would like to just remind that the shop will be not something that everyone will be able to afford. Vanity items and such will be something accessible however the actual in-game items will be one tier below the current one and even for that you'll need to raid and prices will very expensive so those who decide to donate for this will help maintain the server directly. We're looking at costs that will be something not accessible not even for those with very fat wallets.
Also, this is in a way blizzlike. Blizzard has always made catch-up mechanics for players that were always based on "one tier below the current one" and this is kind of a catch-up mechanic for those that wish to help out the server. Either way I'm pretty sure that once people see the way shop is designed that even those that have doubts will not have issues with it.
Keep in mind that the finest gear will only be available after entire content is cleared + some time after that. This is far from being pay2win and it's rather pay2skipgrind at most considering you need to play in order to get stuff.
I meant games that live mainly off of aesthetic enhancements (skins for heroes/weapons/etc.), which is pretty much the Warsong realm too, right now. Also just a question, for you as a donor what is your opinion of either trinkets/weapons and/or the last tier of gear (heroic versions of gear from the last raid) not being ever available through the shop?
Sorry, but I haven't used imperative in any of my posts. I simply stated the truth (afaik) that he ran away with the money which was hoarded by Molten.
Thank you for your response. I guess it is too early for us mortals to jump to conclusion when we haven't seen the new shop yet (I have still nightmares of legendaries only accessible through shop). Also the exact meaning "entire content is cleared + some time after that" has not been probably decided yet, but should we expect rather "1 month after realm first Alone in the Darkness/Light of Dawn" or "few months after most capable guilds have done it" ?

There will be no legendaries on the shop, ever. As for your other question, it will be the latter. The shop will be for those that wish to help the server because it will incite the idea of wanting to help and contribute rather than simply wanting to get the items.
To make it easier to understand, I'll use something rather silly to explain. I'll use hamburgers. For the server to run you need a lot of hamburgers, because there's numerous servers, testbenches, web machine, logon machine and of course for those servers to run properly you need to feed the staff with hamburgers and there's a lot of staff so there's a lot of hamburgers there as well.
The way it was in the past is that we allowed a lot of people to buy those hamburgers but on Lordaeron only few people will buy those hamburgers but in larger quantities (or should I say pricier, classier hamburgers?). There will be also a lot of limitations like those Disneyland height restrictions on certain rides. It will be desirable and 99% of players will get their items in-game and that small amount of players will maintain the servers and get hamburgers.
I hope I got the idea and the point across, I don't think the shop will be an issue to a lot of people and for those that have doubts I think they'll be relieved once they see contents of the shop and prices and they'll understand the point behind it.
I assume the items will be lifted after a long period?
But rare mounts won't be available i'm assuming? such as the lk mount or any raid mount ?
Well, I don't personally equip myself in full BiS gear, my opinion is that I am fine with it. I generally only fill my weapon slots (dw/2h/shield/ranged ; No Shadowmourne tho ;) ) and trinket slots with the BiS items and I do the rest manually, so starting one Tier below that just means I have to play longer, *sarcasm ->* such a bummer *<- sarcasm*. I like having the "essentials" that are harder to get and due to the nature of WotLK, they help boost my gearscore a bit to compensate for the high GS wall that is found on every WotLK server I have played on.
I can't fully speak for full-donors but I would hope they know the type of realm Lordaeron is and the mindset the staff have for it that has been stated repeatedly. With this knowledge I would like to think they will respect the decisions made and take into consideration that this is a big change in how normal private servers are handled. If there is such a level of disagreeing that they don't wish to play on Lordaeron, then there are other realms under Warmane that will allow them to play the way they are used to.
