Not if you do insta 85....I started with like 50 and after player 1 day JUST TRYING TO GET ACHIEVEMENT POINTS....I got like 300 more and gave up.

p.s: most are only worth 10 points so that is 30 achievements completed in a single day which is a lot....1000 achievement points mean you have to complete ~100 achievements which is not easy because after a certain point (i.e 300), only hard or bugged ones are left...

Are you kidding? I got up to 3500 achievement points by doing all of the super easy ones. After that point, all that is left are raid, pvp and quest achievements. It's extremely hard to get 5000 points if you only play Cata though, unless you have help.

Earn 85 -> do world explorer achiev -> gg u got almost 1k points.

I'm not an achievement hunter and yet I have 2.1k Achieve points just from passively doing Raids, Dungeons, Bg's and Arena's. It's not even hard.
