Although I agree they might have existed, I disagree with the volume you say existed. Without technology, antisocial children would at least have to go outside and think of something to do. Now? they rely on tech to think FOR THEM, and slowly go insane when youtube continues to push out the same **** they've seen over and over as recommendations.
At the same time, envy has spiked through the galaxy, because social media now allows us to look at how great our friends lives are, while ours may not be so great. So mix those things and you get
Envy-Anxiety, repetition (slowly causing insanity) and boredom (causing depression). Seeing as society is also grooming these children in schools to demand and expect, we end up with a bunch of anxious quitters, losers, and borderline suicidal children who desperately need the attention of their parents to unwind from that cycle before they grow into dependant adults who will vote for and believe that something can actually be "free" and they are entitled to it.
