1. Laissez faire, who cares? Does it affect you? Form your own pugs. Join one of the many guilds already recruiting even for current content. I've been playing mostly Alliance on each Warmane server for years and at no point felt anything was "unplayable" or even difficult to find groups for raids or pvp both. World PVP has never seemed unbalanced either. 90% probability your guild or lack thereof is the problem.

  2. I like the imbalance.

It makes every world-pvp gank against the Horde righteous and justified - I have formed a guild just to gank hordes in an organized manner and have that as my main content. I like to have all the minmaxers on one side so that those are the kind of people I gank.

With a lot of radical speeches about faction patriotism, you can get a force gathered to have epic fights like that.

Find me in-game on Alliance, my char name is "Vorosh"

  3. I don't know why the vocal minority on this forum always suggest some of the dumbest ideas constantly without fail. I just hope the mods don't entertain these stupid ideas.

Regarding the Faction imbalance issue. The only solution is to limit faction changes exclusively to only be possible from Horde-to-Alliance. A one way faction change.

Once the population is even and reaches the 50% - 50% threshold, you can remove the faction change option again.
That would be at least something. Warmane's staff thinks that if they ignore the problem it will dissapear by itself.

  4. If there is imbalance we could get bonuses on weaker faction like 2x honor, 2x professions or 2x XP, that would be great

  5. Sometimes custom content is required to fix a aging game.
Blizzard tried fixing their "aging game". Look at what it has become.

Ignore the problem? So you're aware completely of what our plans and intentions are?

  7. Well, I've been here since Medivh, Outland... Faction balance has always been an issue which hasnt been solved.
What's different now? I wonder it.

I agree with you. That's why custom tweaks have to be very well thought out and only applied when it's really necessary.

The current work around to partially solve the faction imbalance is forced mercenary mode which reduces BG queue time but on the other hand PvPers lose their identity because they appear with a different character model on the battlefield and have to fight for the opponent faction.
However, MM is just a work around for BGs but it doesn't fix the faction imbalance in other content.
On Wotlk all the top Arena teams are alliance thanks to EMFH, every PvP guild is on ally side and ally vastly dominates the Wpvp. In PvE we have the opposite issue that most good PvE guilds are horde due to the strong Orc and Troll racials.

My approach would be to replace mercenary mode with independent racials. So basically replace one custom tweak with another one but this one would fix the root of the problem: The unbalanced racials. Make the strongest racials universal by giving players the option to switch their current racial with the human, orc or troll racial. (Human, orc, troll are the best on Wotlk, not sure about TBC)
With that custom tweak you'd fix the faction unbalance in all content and in addition players who are min maxing would be able to choose their preferred race model and still keep the best racials.
Only downside of independent racials is that races would lose a part of their identity but on the other hand you could disable mercenary mode where players also lose their identity right now.
Imo independent racials wouldn't be more of a custom tweak than forced mercenary mode is right now but it would be the better solution to deal with a unbalanced faction population.

  9. We don't have a hidden counter for how many times you repeat that after being told it isn't going to happen, which at some magical amount will make it become an yes.

We agree that warmane goes all in with the "no changes mindset". I respect that. Its your server and you do whatever you want but may we listen to some arguments or reasons about why do you stick to that no changes content?

    Thank you.

  11. It really comes down to what we feel is best for the health of the server and the fun of the content available. The reasons are subjective. Not easy cases to be argued objectively. Which is why we tend to not argue them.

  12. The simplest way to put it is that it's the server we want to offer. That's it. It's all the argument or reason we need for it, really.

It's no secret, and in fact we are known for sticking to the original game for just about everything. Naturally there are different things, like our custom transmogrification or the very fact there's no "blizz-like" monthly fee, but when it comes to game mechanics and there is data available of how something worked in the good ol' days, we 9 out of 10 times stick with it.

In cases like what I replied to, when it's about outrageous suggestions for things that never happened to the game and mess with the foundations of what the game has been for all these years, it's a no-brainer most of the time.

  13. As the Mods mentioned, its maybe a pop of 3% who complain about these small things. These People also talk about things like Min-Maxing like they would understand what and why they are doing it. Or not just repeat a copy of a copy that they have read somewhere and now repeat to sound smart or like they have an idead of the game and its mechanics.

And just because there are so and so % more Players with another faction doesnt mean there is an actual inbalance in PvE or PvP. It just means there are more players, no gurantee that these players are either competetive in those fields or even interested in grinding the endgame.

What does being competitive have to do with faction numbers? At the end of the day what you said about horde also applies to alliance but the fact remains. If I get ganked by an alliance in STV as a horde there is a good chance I will be saved/helped by other horde. If I get ganked on my alliance by horde in STV I'm screwed because there's barely any alliance there to help me. There are more horde players and it causes imbalance in the game whether you'd like to admit it or not. Open world questing, attunemets, farming, world bosses, world pvp, accessing vendors like for Zandalar rep are all MORE DIFFICULT for alliance. Simple as that.

Again, as as 6+ year Alliance Warmane player (retail Horde since 2004 btw) and on Onyxia since day 1 I have never had problems with what you're describing. But I'm not even trying to say you're wrong, just that perhaps your perspective is causing you undue harm. I'm genuinely curious if you've played the opposite faction and can speak to the difference from experience.
