I just can't agree with this take at all. I've been on the server about a month. I am leveling both an alliance and a horde character on 0.5xp. Both are almost 40 and I have had the best experience so far, questing, using dungeon finder and having some world pvp. The populatiin seems fine to me so far, (wow retial used to only have 2k online max).I see lvl 80s out and about, sometimes they kill me but so what? Not one of them has ever camped me and if they tried i would just rez behind a tree and mount and run away or hearth. This is exactly what it was like to play retail wotlk when it was out. Pvp is meant to happen and that's why I chose this server. You have to change your strategy... if you see enemies coming, hide behind a tree or a hill. Don't just stand in the road or level in ares with lots of enemy players around, don't make yourself an obvious target. Dont keep trying to do the same quest over and over if an enemy player is doing it. fight them off or come back later. Honestly most of the enemy players I see just ride right past me and often wave. When pvp does happen, I try to pick fights I can win and if an 80 kills me, well that just happens sometimes. I'll go lvl in another area until they leave. I don't really understand the complaining, not meaning to.be disrespectful by that. Maybe it's worse at lvl 80? But so far I'm having a blast. It feels really true to retail pvp servers back in the day and I hope they don't change anything.
It's difficult to form an real opinion in a month when some have been here for years. We are on a pvp server it is obvious that this happens, you will always come across people who will feel superior by killing the lowbies, there is nothing we can do about it. It's a good choice to take advantage of your leveling, too many people rush the endgame and know absolutely nothing except icc and rs.
The staff has done excellent moderation in recent weeks and we feel it in the game.
I play this game since I was a teen and now I'm 33 almost 34.
One of the aspects of the game, and this server particularly is recreate how WoTLK was, and... It has PvP active everywhere excepting sanctuaries.
Ganking is something that ever existed and happens a lot, but I agree that there's several guilds like <AS> that has this tendency on Stranglethorn Vale, and some others in Redridge Mountain, that disencourage new players.
The best you can do is ask for an 80 for help in those cases.
Yes, I know there are a lot who doesn't care, and in Global are very douchy, but some of them actually like to kill gankers and such.
If none 80s is available, the best you can do is log off a bit, take 10 minutes and then come back.
My partner and I have been playing on Warmane for nearly a year now. She's an old-time player, I'm not.
We're pretty bummed not to be able to play anywhere without risking a gank 24/7. PVP is one thing, we don't like PVP but we don't have a choice ; at this point, it's plain and simple griefing. For weeks now, it's been impossible to lvl in Redridge Mountains without getting chain wiped by a lvl 76-80.
We're very happy on Warmane and we'll stay no matter what. We made our peace with the fact that PVE isn't on the roadmap. But it's becoming impossible.
Honestly between Assasing and Miloraddodik making STV and Tanaris unusable, the Alliance deserves it.

it's not just lordaeron, bullies and petty people can be anywhere, horde, alliance, different realms, if you queue bg you will also understand, the amount of premades that camp graveyard and just randoms saying in chat "don't cap flag, go farm them"
I'm a fairly new player on Lordaeron, and I can't recognize what people are saying in this thread. I think I've been killed by high-level players twice in redridge. Was able to complete all quests there in two days, no problem.
Most horde players I see leave me alone, especially the high-level ones. I'm at Hillsbrad now. I've seen a bit of PVP there, but it's less than I remember from back in the day. I've seen very little toxicity. Have had no problem with Latin players.
Seems to me, most people complaining in this thread got ganked a couple of times, and got so frustrated they had to come here and try to make their anecdotal expirience into a general problem.
All in all, I'm very happy with Warmane, it's WoW more or less as I remember it from the olden days.
its pvp baby
Your answer is pathetic but I will give you attention. A large number of toxic players have been banned since this topic was opened (without mentioning guild names), the server has become more relaxed and the population has even grown. There is no longer a 24/7 fly camping, no more mailbox/AH griefing and other toxic behaviors like this. I will let you look at my retail armory if you want to know more about PVP. Next time you answer, please try to argue a little.
Only thing pathetic here is you, bragging about retail (lol) armory, noone asked you a thing, noone cares about it.
I simply said what every intelligent person said before me in this topic. Server is PlayerVersusPlayer, everyone can gank you in any given time, whats the fuss about it? Its normal in this game, everyone knows that, and you need to accept it, its the part of the game, sometimes more often than not.
I personally don't bother with killing anyone because its a waste of time, when im questing and gathering something I don't care much about low level players. If I want to fight I come for arena or bg.
So don't bother my chill with your elitist retail comments pulled from your bottom.
This was your first reply on the forum since joining in 2016 and you chose to say "PVP SERVER" tell me why speak about intelligence ? You confuse griefing/disturbing gameplay what is bannable, of course we've all been ganked before it's part of the game. You just don't play on Lordaeron and you did not experience the critical situation that was resolved by the staff. You sound jealous when you talk about elitism sorry for exploring the game in depth since 2005 I can't do anything about it if you haven't done everything you wanted. It might be wise to close the topic now that the situation has improved before another troll comes to pollute it.
The only reason I play on Lordaeron is because you can't buy any conveniences or power, and the PVE content is challenging enough to keep it interesting. High levels of raiding requires excellent play and tight teamwork, and you really can't find that anywhere else. I hate PvP and avoid it almost all the time. If I find myself being camped I remember this golden rule: boredom will kill 95% of PvP. You can log onto a different character and quest somewhere else, level a profession, or get into an RDF queue. When you come back an hour later they will almost always be gone. This is the way MMO PvP servers have always been on any game ever.
Changing Lordaeron in any way, including PVE, is also not a solution. A lot of people like world PvP and would leave if it was changed, and I doubt you retain the same number in players that decide to stay who would otherwise leave because of PVP. You yourself have been here years despite it, and so have I. I have donated once to Warmane, so maybe you can argue I shouldn't have a vote. To that I would say I have spent years on the server helping new players with gearing, leveling, and knowledge sharing. If you want to make a difference I suggest you go find a new player to coach so that the server is that less "toxic".
