i've been reading through this thread and honestly felt the need to point some of this out because the tone here is getting pretty discouraging. most of us are just here because we enjoy the game and want some clarity on the changes.
Always so easy to push blame for your own shortcomings.
calling it a "shortcoming" is such a weird take. for a change that basically flips how wg works, expecting a normal announcement isn't pushing blame, it's just asking for communication. he didn't see the devlog and instead of de-escalating, it feels like you're taking it as a personal attack and talking down to the community. it doesn't help anyone, it just adds to the disappointment and makes the whole environment here more negative tbh.
Can "the macro spam" hide the fact they are all coming from the same machine? It's a rhetorical question, before you actually try to answer.
and again the "rhetorical question" bit is just unnecessarily condescending. instead of explaining the technical side or being helpful, you’re acting like anyone asking a question is beneath you..
Don't call me a liar. That's something I don't take lightly, as you will realize as soon as I'm done with this post. Your inability to understand time zones... isn't my problem
jumping straight to "you'll realize as soon as i'm done" over a timestamp disagreement ... you could just clarify server time without the tough guy act. when staff reacts this way, it just looks like a fragile ego instead of professional moderation
Good thing that you found it funny. You can be part of the joke too, it's easily arrangeable.
it’s honestly wild to ban people for staff disrespect while you're out here calling players jokes and mocking them in your position. if the staff wants to be taken seriously, maybe try lead by example?
i noticed the same behaviour many times and it would be great if the staff could keep a more professional tone and stay above it instead of matching the toxicity. at the end of the day, we’re all just here because we want to enjoy the game and the community would be a lot more positive if we could have these discussions without the constant hostility and threats.
I'm very happy about this new change; it will make Wintergrasp more playable and won't depend on your Mboxes. I'm also an Mbox, but more dedicated to PvE; I wasn't interested in PvP. In fact, I became an Mbox because I saw that in Wintergrasp, the 25-ton Mboxes always dominated when it was allowed. Along the way, I realized that the veteran Alliance Mboxes were always AFK in the graveyard, friends with the Horde Mboxes, and literally win-trading by staying AFK in the graveyard doing nothing. I reported these actions at the time.
Just ban multiboxing once and for all instead of slowly killing it off.
All you're doing is encouraging more mbox in arenas and battlegrounds so people can complain even more about the use of it in there instead of wg.
At most, there could be 3-4 Mboxes in a wg occupying 15 or 20 of the 120 slots (what a huge impact). You guys should instead focus on banning people who use 10-20 accounts at the same time in the open world or even in wg in both sides of the alliance and horde zzz.
Small question about this - if a multiboxer successfully joins the battle due to there not being 120 people in the queue at the start of it, will they then be allowed to stay no matter how many people queue up later during the battle, or does this new system actively remove them once the battle becomes full?
If they are already in, they won't be removed. This is about multiboxers not taking spots for which there are regular players available and willing.

If you have actual and verifiable evidence, report them. The limit of five accounts per multiboxer exists, but while I now and then see someone talking about people with more, I never see someone saying they had proof and were going to report.
Oh boy this is gold. as a multiboxer myself, i often spend more than 5-6 hours daily in wintergrasp alone, camping worthless honor points and gold. because wintergraps was so easy to put on gear without even trying, i have way too many teams. just this year alone i made 4 of them. Thank you warmane, for finally putting the final nail in the coffin. Multiboxing is officially dead. it was fun while it lasted I'm out :) Bye bye warmane, it is time for me to leave this server once and for all.
For almost 2 years it's been impossible to queue for wintergrasp as alliance if you were late even 10 seconds and didn't have a macro or an addon because of 60-70+ man premades and their adjacent groupies that had it. Any normal, PVE player trying to gear up for PVP would either flip a coin and pray or have no chance at gearing up. There has been no issue with it.
I have seen more than 13 alliance multiboxers in the same wintergrasp playing around those premades, while horde had 1 or 2. There has been no issue with it.
For almost 2 years, Alliance has dominated wintergrasp because of those premades and the adjacent groupies, while Horde had 14k hp players trying to gear up to play with. The power dynamic has been extremely skewed towards alliance this entire time, and horde consistently ended up being camped in graveyards or aimlessly running around for 20 minutes attempting to get some honor. There has been no issue with it.
Lately, things have changed, and something that was just a matter of time ended up happening - horde started having premades as well, premades consisting of multiboxers to compensate the seemingly infinite number of solos alliance can bring, and started winning a lot more because of it. For the first time in more than 2 years, we didn't depend on tenacity to win. Of course, this left out a lot of the 14k hp hordes we used to pride ourselves with.
I think we all would've appreciated this change a year or two ago, don't get me wrong. But this change is coming only after horde started winning, not while the average alliance player was unable to gear up in wintergrasp for more than 2 years and while horde was losing every wintergrasp fighting alongside average, undergeared players against BIS people in AV gy farm premade groups.
Most of our disappointment comes from the fact that this is a direct nerf to a faction that was always the underdog on Icecrown, a faction that needed multiboxers to compete, and a strong buff to alliance, that has an endless supply of solo players they can bring to compensate. The base issue will still be there - normal players will not be able to queue for Wintergrasp on alliance, and horde will only have the low gearscore people to fight against the bis premades.
I think the right (next) step would be to fix premades, if your main concern is allowing players to gear up in wintergrasp. Otherwise, the main issue will still be there.
Was about time. But sadly this change was done too late. The damage that multiboxers did to the server's economy is already too big and no amount of gold squishes are going to change that. A huge salty river will be flowing now, might as well enjoy it.

How did they impact the economy? WG would still be full, the gold/gems would just be given to someone else who would have sold them as well. The same amount of gold will be in circulation going forward, as they were when WG was dominated by multiboxers.
This is the end of multiboxing. Why would someone multibox if he can't join WG? Wintergrasp is a place where multiboxers had their fun. We don't have it anymore *crying *
The best solution would be to increase the Wintergrasp cap to around 160 or even 200 players on Icecrown, since it’s the most populated server, especially on the Alliance side. So, both multiboxers and solo players could participate and be satisfied. There’s no need to remove multiboxers from the server.
I’m also sure that many multiboxers feel sad about this change since they can’t enjoy the game anymore..
1.Any battleground queue system changed for multiboxes? Multiboxers after this change can't queue or still can enter battleground with 5-man?
2.Wintergrasp queue if empty and 5-man in or one by one multiboxers enter the Wintergrasp (Queue without party and 1 or 2 or more toon enter.) can play fight or Wintergrasp 5-man box play completely perhibited?
3.Do you think about to perhibited 5-man multibox further or Warmane's multiboxing idea still same like previous years?
4-Is there any server difference about this change? (For example, its only for Icecrown etc.)
5-Last questions is my family playing on Warmane too. Sometimes if they want to go Wintergrasp together I dropped my toons back and enter queue with my family members on same network. So, after this change I can't queue priority with my family members? If this is changed so we should to connect different networks for play together Wintergrasp?
2. They aren't prohibited, individual players just have priority.
3. There are no other changes at the moment.
4. No.
5. I don't have specifics of what method will be used. I'm skeptical of 5-member families who all play WoW together, and specifically would want to go to Wintergrasp, though, but multiboxers are easily identifiable in general, so I'd expect other players to quickly report people trying to work around the limitation in full matches anyway.
W change imo. With the limited queue, it just makes sense to let everyone have one character in before letting people who have multiple at the same time.
Also, the multiboxers would STACK seiges, making them cleaveable with cannons, really hurt seeing that lol
The biggest problem are the premades, they destroy every battleground, every wintergrasp. Battlegrounds are absolutely unplayable on solo queue. I am bis and i lost more than 30 battlegrounds in a row in mercenary mode and why would i play them. When someone is constantly farmed on BG's and WG there is no point to playing. Im not talking about horde premades, alliance premades are doing the same, gathering 10-20 bis people and destroying every bg.
Its a good change as a solo boxer i can do bgs RDF's alone and old raids i dont need have a party kicking or crying about how i play i love it so im happy the WG battle was change even tho i dont even do WG at all when you join Bgs we fi ght premades as a boxers and we die and we loose you cant always win a fight just enjoy and be happy Battlegrounds as a boxer is fun but premades can wipe you its not that hard
