It's sad that the people who are from Onyxia (long-term) are obviously hurt by this decision. And the proponents of Blackrock merging seemingly continuously gloat and act like know-it-alls (we all know as much as Warmane tells us). It really tells a story in itself.
This is a heartbreaking decision for me and my guild. I know re-consideration is not going to happen, and likely that there will be no TRUE communication either. I do not personally get how bringing in a different server (with extremely different philosophies) is merging with a "blizz-like", with a Progressive server makes sense. This is what I genuinely do not understand: How can this addition snugly fit into the philosophy that Warmane addressed when the server was originally launched. If this was known from the start, I never would have created a guild here. I have the freedom to play or leave, I am well aware. But the fact that, after discovering this, I am going to actively refuse to participate in PvP of any kind and encourage all of the realm to do the same (this will do little to nothing, I am aware). This should matter to Warmane; if they wish to uphold what they (seemed) to be creating (a progressive blizz like realm, isolated from other realms until the end of its' lifespan). they would at least see if it is even necessary to add these sort of merges.
I believe it was unspoken but understood that an Icecrown merge was extremely likely (I believe Mercy commented on this somewhere in the forums, I am open to being wrong). So expecting to be merged into Icecrown at the end of the journey was acceptable. But having a server with a completely different philosophy to compete with/ against... It feels wrong.
I am not here to advocate gear, queue times, activity, yadda yadda. I am here to express the extreme disappointment in Warmane for even considering this before an announcement was made or a Forum was opened. We had no chance to express our (dis)interest. I am in a guild of many (varying widely in skill, from extremely experienced to brand new to WoW and leveling for the first time) people interested in PvP.
I am well aware that my opinion and expression of the decision is likely unpopular to the Warmane staff and for that I apologize, I am not attempting to blame anyone and I am aware that the decision you made has moving parts that we cannot see (both the humble and the proud). I believe that each person is doing what they feel is best from their perspectives. I just hope that my small perspective can reach someone, at all.

You are clearly not in a leadership position. I am responsible for the raiding environment of multiple teams of people. If I quit, it is extremely likely that many people will lose the link to their online friendships (I suppose this is not that important to some people) - the Guild. Not everyone is cut out to make a guild and maintain it. I understand that it seems silly, but that is more of a testament to your lack of real relationships with the people around you; not to our feelings being "animal like".
I am being forced to choose to support something I disagree with (by continuing to play the realm and lead a guild), or quit the server (the best way to show you disagree) and thereby, leave my guild to fend for itself.
I hope that makes sense and that you or others will not respond with animosity (as you have seemingly tried to do).

I am writing to express my disappointment with this decision. I understand that it has already been made, but I want to share how we feel about it.
It seems like you're attempting to address a potential issue, but in reality, you're creating a problem where there wasn’t one before. Many players stopped participating in PvP due to the ranking system and were hoping to return in (TBC) to enjoy both PvP and PvE. Now, it seems that this opportunity is slipping away. I don’t understand why you haven’t addressed the underlying issues with PvP and queue times in the Vanilla portion of the game. Instead, you’re focusing on a problem that doesn’t yet exist in TBC. Can you help me understand the reasoning behind this?
Additionally, why do you believe that adding another variable, such as a completely different realm to the PvP mix, will help balance things? It’s evident that this will make tuning even more challenging. While there’s a promise to fine-tune gear progression for both realms to maintain fairness, wouldn’t it be better to keep the realms separate? There must be an aspect we don’t understand, because this decision doesn’t seem logical.
I believe we should be given the chance to prove that we don’t need a merge with Blackrock. Let the players decide the future of PvP instead of forcing a self-fulfilling prophecy, such as claiming low engagement on Onyxia as proof that we needed Blackrock and change something before it actually manifests as an issue.Edited: September 10, 2024 Reason: Grammar

Actually, I was willing to re-roll for my guild. They want me to stay rogue because of the work I put in. There is no reason to try and humiliate me. I will be the first one to make fun of myself. I am quite blessed to be able to play a rogue in tbc PVE. I am well aware of that. Their kindness to not mind me doing so is part of the reason my sentiment that I hoped to display is true. Thank you for re-enforcing my sentiment!

I am choosing my words more carefully now, but my opinion still stands. The poor PVP situation is the only thing that grinds my gear that much to make me want to post here....

Probably very few! I would imagine that many people who are players of the realm for an extended period of time would be quite upset by this. I can see you are heavily advocating for Blackrock's merge - that is okay! But please do not act as if every individual person here is "out to get you", so to say, or logging in from 10x accounts to inflate the opinion in one direction.
There is a lot of hostility from your posts, Blakeatron. It seems to be largely engrossed in the attitude of players who are accommodating the merge of Blackrock + Onyxia. That's quite strange.
